Man, did ebay just become the catalog for "The Armour Store" ? Looks like they put their entire stock up on the sale racks of ebay!

I think the dif. is we LIKE your stuff. The over all take on armorstore seems to be less positive. (Kinda like my spelling huh?)

Hey, if someone can sell their stuff better on ebay, more power to them! That's what it's there for.

But after the third or fourth item by the same company, I usually stop looking. After the tenth or eleventh, I start modifying the search to exclude them. I usually check out a site to see what the item goes for as well. If it's the same as the opening bid, once again, I exclude them.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets bored looking at a bunch of stuff put up for the same price you can buy it normally. I guess if all someone wants is a little advertising before Pennsic, ebay can do that as well.

Just thinking out loud is all...

Again I must be the lone crusader for the Armor Store. My brigandine gorget, five piece elbows and shoulders were AWESOME!! He even went into the store on a Saturday (not normal business hours) to finish up my gorget just because I really wanted it for fighter practice in time.

Malaki, I don't think they were bashing the armour store's armour itself, just the fact that they had so many listings on ebay.

I don't like having to muddle through 10+ auctions by the same person either (though mine is in search of silver coins...)

Anyhoo, ah...um... I lost my train of thought.

I have to say one thing abot things on eBay - When it's up there, you know that the item is finished, ready, and about to go out. You don't have to wait. And if it's not, eBay is real good at dealing with problems like that.

OTOH, it's not custom fit, and if it doesn't fit well, you generally can't send it back (although some sellers I've dealt with have been remarkably good about customer support).

The legs that I bought from the armour store and the guantlets that I have seen from them just aren't that good. The articulation relied on the looseness of the rivet for 70 percent of the articulation. That doesn't come out quite right. 70 percent of the motion was generated by sliding up and down the rivet, not spinning on the rivet. The rivets were just too far towards the middle and it didn't articulate well.

of note I have HEARD good things about their helmets and non-articulated items. And both my legs and the gaunts are 2+ years old. Maybe they have fixed the issue.

My thoughts

Where are all these armour store auctions? I normally only look at the militaria-ancient or pre-1700.

Morgan,

Just search SCA Armour or SCA Armor and I believe that will do it.
