HELM WANTED!!!

Post by Seawolf »

OK....I know it is not "Authentic" but I am looking for someone who can make me a custum helm. I am looking for a "Sugarloaf" design with a "Visor" and a brass cross. Stainless is prefered but mild will work also. My head is 24 inches. Anyone who is interested please post.

"Sugarloaf"s with visors are period. There's on in a picture in Arms and Armour of the Midieval Knight. Page 67 a knight is being handed a visored great helm with a top that is curved like a bascinet ie a "Surgarloaf" Image It's dated c1340.

Seawolf,

I can make Great Helms -- and we could try our (you and me) hand at a Sugarloaf using Sinric's pattern --...and my shop is only a 30 min drive from you. I live in Lakewood, WA. If you want a Great Helm it will cost you the price of materials ($30 or there about) and some sweat on your part. Please give me a call at 253-583-7658.

This is not exactly what you want, but it's both inexpensive and easly customized (ie -- no shipping and you can basicly make the helm with me). And, if at first we don't make what you want...we've made a loaner helm for the Barony (no cost to you).

I'm available Saturday if you wish.

I got a lot of one ringers on the answering machine. I'm done teaching tonight at 10pm. How about you leave your phone number on the answering machine and I'll call you back?

I'm right in the middle of making Sinrics visor sugerloaf.I thought I'd make a rough version to try it out first.I have the top done and just attached the skirt and front plate, just have the visor left.So far it's went fairly good, the hardest part was getting the point on the halves.I think its a little bit big for me,I enlarged it to 138%(10% bigger than Sinrics)because his patterns are usualy a little small for me.
BTW I have a 25" head so if you do make this helm for yourself with Aaron,128%(maybe a little less even) should be pretty close to the right size.

To everyone who sent me emails. I just discovered that the email listed in my profile is an old work email that I no longer have access to. I have updated my email / Profile now. If you could resend those emails I would really appreciate it.

AAron....I am currently working over near the Grand Coulee Dam. So I am alittle ways away. lol. Mybe we can get togther when I am done with this project and get to move back home. It has also put a huge damper on my participation in events this year.

Cool.

I just saw your location in your profile, and thought it might be easier (and cheaper) to make your own helm locally.

The offer is always open.
