Brian Brown Armory (knitbee) Review

Post by Adamo »

Late last year I ordered a fourteenth century-style leg harness in stainless steel from Brian Brown. I was quoted a two to three month turnaround at the time.

The armor ended up taking longer than quoted, but Brian was very good with communications throughout the process, responding quickly to my e-mails and often including progress pictures. The armor showed up today and I'm very pleased! Considering that we've never met the fit is very good and the attention to detail is obvious.

I would recommend Brian Brown Armory to anyone looking to upgrade their appearance.

Without further ado:

NICE!

I wish I could afford his work...

Edit:

I felt the need to expound here... because NICE! doesn't begin to cover it.

The lines and execution put the overall form in my "Top 10 Armourers" list. As form follows function, my bet is they move like a second skin.

Brian has an incredible love and knowledge of the evolution of armour. When I contacted him a while ago regarding a project, he brought up details and inconsistancies between what I desired and what was done in the period.

He also has an attention to details as is evidenced in most of his work. Even when a piece is done in as an "Armoury" version, the little details are in place even if the "bling" isn't. This has the effect of making a piece stand out on its own merits rather than decorative elements alone.

I'm envious :D

Andy,

The greaves aren't cased - that's a goal for down the road with this kit. I'll post some better pictures tomorrow evening.
