Anyone ever buy from Get Dressed for Battle?
Anyone ever buy from Get Dressed for Battle? I was looking for a new helm aka Get Dressed for Battle Klappvisier? How well will it hold up?

GDFB are generally quite good. They're cheap, cheerful and sturdy enough to last a while. The only problem is their stuff is generally one size fits noone, so you may have to tweak things slightly to get it to fit.

I have to second the comment on sizing. TherionArms had clued me into the GDFB helms not fitting my head / protuberant nose. I have never bought anything from them (and not heard anything bad about them).
Not sure if that helped or not.

note that John told me he has a HUGE head (like, 27"), thus my advice
and some of the flatter-faced helms (like the topfhelm and great bascinet) will be a bit harsh one those (like me) with HUGE noses, unless you rig a chinstrap system that keeps the helm tight to the back of your head.
Oh, and always order the size Large and plan on adding padding if you're going to use GDFB helms for any type of contact combat. (GDFB is figuring this out, and has been discontinuing the Mediums on most models)

Re: Anyone ever buy from Get Dressed for Battle?
I got a gambeson made by GDFB (also through Therion). I've never used it because it's SO heavily padded that it's restrictive. To be fair it might work under a hauberk, but I've tried it under a CoP and a brig and it's just not functional.
Not really relevant to a helm purchase per se, but that does tend to support the "one size fits noone" theme.

The gambesons get a lot more mobile/comfortable after they are broken in.
Do you have a squire? Have him wear it for a few practices.

I've used their great fighting bascinet from Therion and have had no problem with it. I also have a small head and nose. I think my head size is around 22in. That being said I just upgraded to wonderful helm from hammerbreaker. I wanted something a little better looking and with better vision.
