Doesn't have to be a sexy seaxy, just usable. As a matter of fact, the more utilitarian-looking, the better.
I've only really seen the broken back blade style, and I hear there are other types, but I think I'd prefer the BB-style, regardless.
A mid-sized, 7"-10" blade would be great. Carbon steel is fine.

I have a shorty I am working on.
It not perfect - but its 1084 and differentially tempered and sharp as hell.
I will see if I can dig any pictures up. If not I will take some and some measurements when I get back from the office this afternoon.

Meh, I have put the newer pictures somewhere safe... and therefore inaccessible.
The Seax is on my FB business site and should be view able by the public.
There is a photo of a bunch of knives in the the rough grinding stage and the seax is the second from the right.
I will take measurements tonight, I think its in the 6" range.

Thaddeus, we need to bat this idea around again. Not sure how I lost track of this thread, lol.

Did you want a bare blade or a finished one?

I've been known to make a few seax here and there...



I'd like the opportunity to discuss your wants & needs in a blade, whether its just a plain high carbon steel or even a complex pattern welded heirloom.

How about 1084 high carbon with a convex grind over hand forging to shape, differentially hardened OR edge quenched, your choice?

Closer to 10" on the length with a simple wood handle, no bolster but both epoxy filled & pinned so the blade will never work itself out of the handle with use.

If you desire I can make it very clean and polished or leave it with evidence of hand-forging so it will fit within a living history context.

I can do it for $140 plus shipping cost and I'll have it ready to go within 30 days.

I'm just had a computer crash. Waiting on the replacement sometime next week.

So the answer is... at the moment, no.

I do have 18 years of experience knifemaking and would hope that the few pictures I have posted on the archive would be enough testament to my meager skill.

While the picture in the post above is of a "Broken Back" seax, it is of the "Hurbuck" style and it sounds like you may be looking for more of the Clip point "Honey Lane" style.

Lucian, looks like you are all set for the time being.
I will be doing a few more of these this fall as I have time.
I want one for myself and have learned some things between finishing the knife/seax and a few other pieces that came after it.
This is the mini-seax/utility knife that went to a friend in need of a peanut butter spreader (it also cuts leather amazingly well).

The next one will be a might larger.

First I have a request for a spoon carving knife and a couple of camp knives to finish up.
