Gauging Interest - Flat 1/4" Welded Maille - UPDATE!

Post by Atlanta Armory »

I have a new, smaller ring size available in stainless and titanium and in round or square wire. I would like to go ahead and get started on the pre-Pennsic rush and need to know what I need to stock. Here are the choices:

Connecting rings: Round (0.040" or 0.048") or square (0.047") rings. [0.048" = 18ga., 0.040" = 19ga.]
Punched rings: Stainless, Titanium, Brass, or Bronze

Image

For comparison, here is a list of weights and (tentative) prices for what a long aventail would be for several material choices.

[Welded Ring Mat. / Punched Ring Mat.]
Square Stainless / Stainless - $245, 4.5lb.
Round (0.048") Stainless / Stainless - $245, 4.3lb.
Square Stainless / Titanium - $275, 2.9lb.
Round (0.048") Titanium / Titanium - $375, 2.4lb.

Compare to the 5/16" x 0.048" ring size:
Stainless - $225, 3.7lb.
Titanium - $375, 1.8lb.

If I can get enough interest I'll go ahead and order the two most popular choices.

I got a job.... let me celebrate with "Square Stainless / Titanium - $275, 2.9lb"

It's the best at price to weight ratio.

Edited to add that I would probably be in for 2.

I ordered this morning enough rings in square stainless to make 8 long aventails and 2 long aventails in stainless / titanium. If this first run goes well I'll order more in the future. Also, if there is enough demand, I should be able to get more punched titanium in mid-summer.

Cheers,
-Ben
