Before I go further or invest money in materials...

Would anyone be interested in handmade steel buckles?

What styles would you like to see?

What sizes would you like to see?

What pricepoint would you be willing to pay for such an item with the caveat that it would be simple, well made but not "Blingy" ?

Regards,

Grimr

It would depend on how simple and not blingy I guess, but something like 3/8" Viking-esque would certainly interest me. I would assume them to be reasonably priced. :D

Absolutely. Basic squared D-ring style appropriate for 14th century harness, in 1/2" to 3/4" strap sizes. With buckle plates, if possible. :)

What I am thinking is simple styles, "D" shape square & pointy, Figure 8 both square and pointy. Buckle plates would be easy even with a simple cutout design. Decoration would be simple chisel struck patterns. I want to fill a niche not compete with current makers. 1/2" and 3/4" sizes... any call for 1" ? I dont want to do more than 3 sizes.

+1 for 1/2" and 3/4" size D and Figure-8 style buckles. Pricing? I'd pay upwards of $5.00 for a 1/2" pointy D-style steel buckle with 1" mounting plate....make corresponding square or triangular strap ends...$7.00 bucks a set?
