Hello all, up for sale is an O-Katana by dynasty forge. Same as the one listed here:
http://kultofathena.com/product.asp?ite ... 2F+Bo%2DHi

It has been hand polished to a mirror shine and sharpened professionally. I have not used it since I acquired it a month or two ago but it was used in the past to do some mat cutting.

I will take 200 plus shipping for it in the CONUS.

I am confused, what is the BLADE length, I may be interested... 31.5 + 12 for the tsuka?

Thanks!

You got it. It's the o-katana size but the tsuba and all are musashi theme.

Still available, thanks. Also just fyi as I understand it, o-katana and nodachi are the same thing. So this is MEANT to be a large blade. :)

They are different, but both are large weapons. The O prefix in front of katana means great or large, while one of the common translations of nodachi is horse cutting sword.
Think of it as a bastard sword and nodachi as great sword.
Great deal BTW.

Right on, thanks. The blade is about 31.5 so it's a fairly large sword, certainly seems a bit oversized compared to the typical katana. But it's pretty awesome. :)

It is a lovely sword and an awesome deal, but too long for a short guy like me... A super deal for a guy 6" or taller.

Which of course is really Western-style nonsense, as the "ô" kanji is the same as "dai" (大), and in conjunction with the kanji for katana, also read "tô" (刀) is *invariably* read by Japanese as "daitô" (大刀) and means -- "Katana", as opposed to the shôtô, ("small sword," 小刀), which is the wakizashi.

Every time I see "ô-katana" I twitch. It's Western marketing BS.

Which still leaves me with an awesome large blade for sale at a killer price :-)

Funny. Take judo for example, O- Goshi is commonly reffered to as big hip throw over here. Japanese is not always a literally translated langauge. I appreciate your input on the sword terminology.
You must have been, uh, overwhelmed, to say the least when you began to study armor in Japan.
