Atlanta Armoury Review of new product. Ti and SS aventail

Post by Payn »

So a while back, Ben from Atlanta Armoury was gauging interest on a combo punched Ti with welded SS rings aventail. I replied back that I would be in for 2, as soon as he made them (yay employment!).

He got a hold of me, and he made me a deal that was too good to pass up, and I ordered the 2. I knew that he was sourcing material, and then learning how it worked in the mean time, so I did not have any real expectations on when it would be done.

3 weeks later, I got word that he had finished the first, and was working on the second. Within the next 2 weeks we got money transferred, the second one done, and they showed up at my doorstep (he shipped USPS with tracking, which I love).

Now, onto the aventails themselves. I love the look. The rings aren't mithrilly small like the butchers mail, and aren't "shoot an arrow through a ring" like a bunch of the indian stuff. IMO, the best I am going to get look wise when it comes to size.

If you look closely, you can see an ever so slight difference in the color of the Ti and the stainless. It is so minute that you can also see it as the weave causing the lighting difference.

The punched rings are also wider that the stainless (as you will be able to notice in the pictures), but once again, hard to tell without studying it.

Weight, My scale is a digital body scale. The best it can do is 4 pounds -+ .3 pounds.

Pricing, I think that he upped his price slightly after working out the materials in these 2. He did not pass that cost onto me. I will let him reply with the cost. Frankly, well worth what I paid, and well worth what his initial asking price was going to be.

Now, some pictures.
Laid out. This one has an added bonus feature. Brass trim. This one is going on my tourney helm.

This was testing just how big it would get. This is over my WMA kettlehat, sized to fit a 24.5" dome. I.e. HUGE!!!!

Cut out 14 links while fitting it to the kettlehat. I will trim it up to frame the face and leave it attached to the grill.

All in all... the normal
5+ across the board!!!!

Glad to hear you like them! The titanium rings turned out to be a bit smaller, which meant more rings and harder to weave. I've upped the price to $350 for titanium, but I'll knock off $35 and include free shipping with any shirt order.
