Review : Ash pole weapon & spear staves

I needed a couple of poles for a spear and a polearm head to affix to (steel LH; not rattan or boffer obviously). I first had considered going with Purple Heart Armory, but length and shape options were not optimal for what I wanted. So I did a little shopping around. I settled on getting ash staves from a company called Sherill Tree.

Purpleheart offers Hickory in both round and octogonal profiles, which is stronger but a heavier wood. Also a bit expensive at $39 for an 8' length (only available in round). Kult of Athena has round only ash staves in 7' length for $25 ea. + shipping.

So as to my purchase, Sherill Tree only offers Ash in octogonal profile in 8' and 12' lengths (1.25" diameter). I purchased two of the 8' lengths at $23 ea. Total including shipping was $60. And I believe I will have enough left over from one of the poles, for the haft on a war hammer when I cut it down for the halberd.

They're located in NC (I'm just north of Washington D.C.). I paid on Sunday night at 10pm. And had them in hand on Thursday mid day. So pretty fast delivery from UPS.

If you need an ash pole and looking for octoganal profile, I can suggest Sherill Tree

Good stuff man...been wondering where I can get a pole to mount my spearhead. As I'm in the same general area as you, I think I'll go with them. Thanks.
