Sir Richard Blackmore Has Passed. Large Armor Collection

Many of you may know by now that Sir Richard Blackmore of the East Kingdom has passed away this past week. He was a friend, a member of the Archive and part of our medieval family. He left behind a widow who is disabled and a young daughter. There was no insurance and they are looking to sell off some items to make enough money to get by on in the mean time.

Sir Richard was a huge armor-phile. He owned several harnesses from run of the mill guys like myself to great masters of the art like Master Jeffrey the Younger, Master Roberto, Sir Luther Anshelm, etc. I will have these armor pieces with me at Pennsic this year in my booth. Here is a chance to own some very nice items from some great and not so great armorers. Here is your chance to help someone out in their time of need. If you feel compelled to donate a few dollars to their cause, you can write a check to them (Make the check payable to Wanda Peck) and drop it off at the stand. I know this family well and they will never be put out on the street as long as I have a roof over my head. They are upside down right now and need the help to dig out. If you do not know them or care to help, I understand. Times are tough all over. Stop by and check out the armor collection and maybe pick something up for yourself or someone you love and help out a member of our medieval family at the same time.

Sir Richard also own several rare armoring books. They will be put up for auction. As soon as I have the details, I will let you know, so you might bid on them.

Safe travels to the war,

Ice

Thanks for the Paypal address. James was a friend, and will be missed.

I won't be at Pennsic, but I'd certainly like to help out however I can. Could you put some of the items up on the Web?

Are you only going to sell items at Pennsic? Is it possible to snap some shots of the helmets and nicer pieces so people not going to Pennsic could purchase?

Thanks

Rey

I agree - for selected pieces, an auction here might actually raise more funds than the Pennsic sale. Bless you for stepping up to help out his widow in her time of need.

May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.

Thank you for helping Sir Richard's family, Your Grace.
I'll see if I can't scrape a few bucks to send to Wanda and Ashley.

Thank you your grace. I am glad to be able to assist them. I will miss the conversations I had with Richard. I am saddened that I was never able to meet him in person.

Wow, how sad. I enjoyed talking with him on the Chivalry list, what a loss.

Just so you know Ice isn't ignoring you, he may be a wee bit slow in responding, he's out vacationing somewhere south. He probably has access to the internet, but he may not check in too quickly.

I take delivery at the war, so I cannot do anything before then. In the mean time, thank you all for supporting the family with your donations.

Sir Richard was a long time friend. He was a newbie when I met him. In fact, Jehan was himself a squire, at the time. I miss him already. His quick boyish grins now a fond memory for us who knew him, and his voice of reason will be sorely missed by all SCA combat practitioners.
Regards,
Raim

I am still in shock. I have known him for close to twenty years, and have stayed in his house while the Sands Point Medieval Faire was going on. I had been meaning to give him a call, but didn't get around to it before it was too late. Make sure you get top dollar for those stainless 'gothic' finger gauntlets I made him! It grieves me that I don't think he actually got around to putting both gloves into them, so he never got to use them.

Ice, make sure you get at least a grand and a half for them! I wouldn't so much as think about making a pair like them now for less.
