I'm putting the phototype for my Sugarloaf helm up for sale. The material is 0.083" 1050 spring steel with a basic satin finish on it. The helmet was heated to 1600F/871C and quenched in water, then tempered for 30 minutes at 650F/343C. Please note the small patch weld on the top where I filled in a burn though hole from the welding. The weld filler material is mild steel. This is a prototype / 2nd quality piece so the price is only $395 + shipping. For an extra $100 I can put a brass cross on it.

It should fit a head size of 22" with 1" of padding and 23" with 3/4" of padding. For ACL/BotN fighting I think that it work for someone with a 21.5" to 22.5" circumference head.
The current plan is to sell hardened 0.090"/13ga./2.3mm 410 stainless steel sugarloaf helms with a brass cross and an 8" welded stainless steel aventail with bronze edging from Atlanta Armory. My current target price is $1,175 per helmet.
I'll have two size large helmets coming in a few weeks from James River Armoury. For ACL/BotN they should work for people with a 22.5" - 23.5" circumference head. They will be the 3rd generation of prototypes and are set up for a brass cross. The crosses are added after heat treating so you can get a helmet with or without one. They do not come with an aventail. The price without a cross is $580 and with a cross the price is $680. Shipping is extra.
BTW, the 2nd prototype helmet that I'm currently selling is my own work.
If anyone is interested I can produce a custom sized Sugarloaf helm for $595 or with a brass cross for $695. For $995 I can make a visored sugarloaf with a brass cross. For an extra $300 I'll make the helmet out of 0.090"/13ga. 410 stainless steel and heat treat it. For an extra $200 I'll mount an 8" Atlanta Armory welded 3/8" ring stainless steel aventail with bronze edging on it.
These are photos of the 3rd prototype. Eric from James Rivers Armoury build the helmet from a 0.083" 1050 carbon steel plate set that I sent him. I heat treated it, polished it, and added the brass cross. For ACL/BotN fighting I think that it work for someone with a 23" to 24" circumference head. The price is $595.
If anyone would like to order the hardened 410 stainless steel version of this helmet then the price would be $975. For an addition $200 I'll mount a 8" welded stainless steel aventail with bronze edging on the helmet.
