(Photos to follow when I can unearth the camera)

As part of a drive to get back into SCA rattan combat, I'm adjusting my harness timewise and that means a different helm.

I have a bascinet with a pivoting bargrill visor. This fits a medium-sized head (23") It's been fitted with a hand-sewn linen liner, chinstrap kit and a full set of bronze vervelles. It's been very lightly used and is in great condition.

I'm seeking an equivalent helm appropriate for 15th century Italy - a sallet or barbuta.

If any interested party would like to examine the helm, I'll be at Pennsic for Middle Weekend. PM me here to schedule an appointment.

I did not make that helmet, no idea who did.

No problem, wish I knew who made it as the style is familiar.

I bought it at Pennsic 12(?) years ago, and I thought that I bought it from an arms merchant sharing space with a book dealer (or who sent his wares to war in the keeping of the book dealer). I also bought a spear-tip kit and a chinstrap kit from the same outfit

Though it occurs to me that the seller mentioned that some of the helms on the shelf were from another source.

The snapshot with a close-up of the vervelles also shows the maker's mark - an elephant stepping on an anvil?

Never seen that one before! You might want to make a separate post in Armour Construction to get more eyes on it for identification.
