Need someone to install an aventail on a topfhelm

Post by peterfitzgerald »

Hey everyone,
I have a topfhelm and I have an aventail, and I don't want it to look as bad as my other helm, so I am looking for someone that can do it quickly for not too crazy of a price, I am in caid, if you have any interest in making a bit of cash let me know your price and time frame and I'll send pictures to you .

Do you have the vervelles or are you useing cotter pins?
What type of avaintail?
Pictures would help visualize the layout some.
I'm out of the area and shipping charges would likely kill the deal.

I'd like pics of the helm and aventail beforehand so I can estimate what will need to be done. I'm assuming you want it mounted on the inside?

Attach your Avan tail to a strip of leather that measures the outside or inside of your helm.. I punched holes in my strip and attached it with sinew first.. then I drilled holes in the bottom rim of the helm and the leather strip that match.. I' then attached the leather strip with the Aven tail to my helm with 4 Copper Rivets.. it looks great and has been like that for 2 years and never had to be redone.. you can easily do it yourself I would not pay someone to do it for me

My leather strip measures about an inch and a half to 2 inches wide.. I attached mine to the outside rim of my helm, I dyed it black and punched in some triscles and painted them white
