WTS Wisby style 14th c finger gauntlets w/finger bucklers

It hurts me to put these things up for sale but... times is tough.

I have one pair of Wisby style 14th century finger gauntlets for sale. They were originally created by Whonew here on the archive, and are of excellent quality.

All the plates are 16g mild steel. The fingers DO NOT ground, but with 1/4" padding on each finger, I've taken some pretty heavy shots to the hands in these without issue. They ARE legal for SCA use (I have personally used them for SCA heavy for over a year at multiple events including Gulf wars)

The fingers are riveted to a heavy duty nylon webbing (I kept tearing the rivets out of the original leather) which has been stitched to a high quality calfskin glove. They have attached splinted wrist sections that extend most of the way up the forearm for excellent coverage.

I have large hands with long fingers, so if you've got a big pair of mitts these should fit you just fine.

Whonew makes them for $475 a pair. Make me an offer! I wouldn't be selling them if I didn't need the money, after all.

INCLUDED:

One pair of Merc Tailor finger bucklers. These things are GREAT. With a rolled edge, subtle domed shape, and padded leather backing for the fingers, they make my finger gauntlets protect more like clamshells. I find myself using them mostly in heavy melees where things have a tendency to get a bit wild.

Alas,

Even at such a good price, I cannot best that offer now. But wait me thinks I have an idea that would be more appealing that simply cash.

We could deliberate on a price (likely what you need at least and what I can afford) and I will buy them with a guaranteed sale back to you (coupled with a rpomise that I will retain them) when times are "easier" and money is mre abundant.

SInce we are local, there would be no shipping involved either way and you coudl eventually get them back (since you did not want to sell them inthe first place).

Thoughts!?

Sir Stephan, that offer is extremely kind and very thoughtful. This morning has been a real downer for me, and it's inspiring to see someone make such a generous and genuinely selfless offer to keep my gauntlets in the long run.

As it is, I'm unfortunately having to grub for every last dollar I can get, and can't take you up on it.

I'm trying to look at this as a positive experience: These were my very first finger gauntlets, and now when I do purchase a new pair, I know what small tweaks I'd like to see made for maximum function and comfort.

I will not forget your offer, and plan to thank you in person in the near future with a mug of one or another inebriant.

I haven't seen these gauntlets, but I can vouch for Whonew's work. To quality, all the way.
