Review of Maxim Suprovich: Blackened bascinet

Post by Dietrich von Stroheim »

When I saw that Maxim Suprovich had built a custom blackened bascinet with brass accents, interchangeable SCA grill and full-visor, and riveted camaille...and that he had built it for someone with the exact same head measurements as me...I snapped it right up!

I made payment by Western Union, and Maxim shipped it out to me the next day. 12 days later it arrived at my door, just in time for fighter practice after work!

I've never fought in a bascinet before, but this may well be the most comfortable helm I've ever worn. It's heavy in the hands but very comfortable on the head, because it is so well-fitted.

The lines on it are great, and the brass just makes the whole thing cause instant Armorection!

Maxim was a pleasure to do business with--very quick to communicate, and shipped me an awesome product in record time from the Ukraine.

An all-around awesome transaction!

Please check the thickness of the helmet before you fight in it.
I bought one very similar to that from Maxim (one that came with an interchangeable hounskull) It dented pretty badly with one moderate hit, not excessive, moderate. IF I had been hit with a really REALLY good hit, like from a pole arm, it would have led to a pretty serious concussion on my part.

I was an IDIOT and thought I could reenforce it, and did some work on it myself, and bunged it up, and I felt it wrong to send it back to maxim after I had made the issue worse. I am sure had I just contacted Maxim before hand he would have made amends.
