All,

I am looking for reviews from people that actually OWN IceFalcon's TI mail.

What mail product do you have?
How is the weight?
How does it move?
How often do you wear it?
How has it held up?
Would you get it again?
General comments are very appreciated.

If you'd prefer to PM me the review, that is fine with me.

Thanks in advance!

The first batch of riveted Ti mail was brittle at the rivet. A single hit caused failure. The newer stock is of higher quality supposedly. A friend of mine had an aventail of the first run.

Is someone trying to kill you with TI sharp weapons? WTF do you need more than modern steel to stop it? Its already better and more homogenous than medieaval steel. Please explain this to me.

Negative. Knuut does not do Ti any more. This is riveted Titanium. We DO sell Knuuts welded stainless, though. :)

Our first batch was procured through GDFB and it was not well made. We stopped dealing with GDFB as they handle low end garbage and the products were not consistently well made. Our new manufacturer uses better processes and thicker gauge. We are very happy with the new Ti products.

I wouldn't say that all of GDFB' s mail products are poorly made, but for the most part ice is correct. I have used both the gdfb 16g 8mm rings and the 17g 9mm flat round rivet rings, and from using them I'd say the 17g rings are pretty solid and well made with not many unusable rings. The code 8 rings are much more hit and miss, many of the overlaps are not flattened enough or punched centered but many of the rings are also very good, with the 16g overlaps being quite robust when done correctly. I am going to attempt to replicate them once I get a 6 ton press soon- I'm finishing up a hauberk of them and punched rungs now and kult is currently out of stock. Overall I'd say the batches can be either good or bad of them. The 17g flat rings are more solid and thicker than the 9mm mild steel rings I got from icefalcon' s last batch. They were 18g and I would definitely trust the gdfb rings over them against a serious attack. However, since ice is getting his next shipment from a different supplier this may no longer apply. If this is the case then the two will probably be the same, although I will find out for sure in February. I am just saying that a certain type of the gdfb rings seem to be well made from my experience of getting a batch, although I am unfamiliar with their wedge rings.

I have one, they are LIGHT!!! Moves well, with my padding it's just under the max for medium though and it bunches up as I put it on, a little shimmying and you'll be fine, or make sure you have more than one inch to the max size it goes to :) All in all it's rather like wearing a heavy coat during the winter. I've worn it to nearly every practice I've gone to since I got it and nary a problem. Holds up pretty good and actually takes a touch of oomph out of a blow, which I was surprised at since it is so light. Ice was awesome with the customer service and when I tried to pay it all in advance he'd hear none of it since the shipping time was not a "for sure" thing (i'm guessing a bit on the why). I'd have to grow more thumbs to give him a proper thumbs up. Yes I'd get it again, yes I would (and have) suggest it to others. As an aside, I'm in texas so in the summer I feared the worst, though the only time it got bad was a day with no wind. Even a little breeze and it acts like a heat sink.. not well, but better than not at all. The only problems I've ever had have nothing to do with Ti, or icefalcon's stuff.. and that is putting it on it likes to grab ONE hair off a beard... and after a particularly grueling day I can't get it off alone, but then I also couldn't hold my shield up anymore on those days either. Luckily my daughter thinks it's "fun" to help sweaty old dad out of his chainmail. :) I honestly cannot cheer this stuff or Icefalcon enough.

That is why we stopped using GDFB. Those were the first batch you got. :)

I have an XL 3/4 sleeves (on me) and about mid thigh length. It rocks like Slayer. Light, generously constructed where it needs to be, movement is good and I have had zero failures. No discoloration other than the normal spots where one would expect it to show wear. Even better than the item itself was dealing with Ice. IMHO you can't go wrong with these items or any of the other items he offers. Buy with confidence y'all, it's only money you can make more.

I back up everyone else's testimonials on Ice's customer service- it is excellent and you know it will be a good transaction when dealing with him. I'll add that I got to see some of the 6mm flat links that he shipped me by mistake once (I called him and sent them back of course). Those links use smaller rivets and seemed to me to be of the highest quality. I'll probably retrofit some of my hauberk with his new links, and hopefully pick up some of that sexy lamellar next year ;-)

Ps some 6mm in titanium would be an awesome idea...
