Does somebody need something a bit more impressive than a 1.25 inch baton or 1.5 inch plank for Gulf Wars (or any other early spring event)?
As anybody who has handled my wasters knows, in addition to giving the blades a linear taper, I also give the rattan wasters a distal taper: (with the exception of my gladii) the blade is 1.5 inches thick at the base of the blade and 1.25 inches thick at the tip. I feel it is more historically accurate, looks better, handles better, and lasts longer with a taper.
I am due for a restock of rattan after Gulf Wars, but for right now supplies are a bit thin. I found a two inch wide, five foot long piece of rattan that had previously been planed to 1.25 inches thick across the entire length. I decided to make a waster out of it, but now that it is almost complete I am a bit of a loss on what I should do with it. I don't want to send it down to Gulf Wars to be sold as an example of my work, but I don't personally need a great sword either. Anybody want to buy it?
As I said, it is close enough to complete that I could carve it to fit a crossguard and pommel before I pack those up for Gulf Wars, tape it, and still have it in the mail by March 1st. Overall length is 60 inches with 42 inch blade before a thursting tip is installed and an 18 inch tang.
I'm asking $75 plus shipping as-is or $+10 if you want me to carve it to fit hardware, add tape and a thrusting tip.
At this moment, it could either be a type 17 or an extra long 15A
