I have for sale two reproduction medieval chess sets.

The first is a cast stone set that is commonly advertised for sale online and often designated "fourteenth century German," though I have not seen an original set exactly like it. I bought this set new on Ebay. I received it with one of the knight's horse ears being chipped off, but the piece was in the box so I glued it back together with no problem. The pieces have never been played with or transported since I received them and look excellent. I would like $75 for the set + $16 shipping.

The second set was hand crafted by me and is based on many surviving shatranj sets from Persia, Syria and the Muslim lands between. Most surviving ones are stone, but a particularly famous set from a 12th century shipwreck from Serçe Limani survives in wood with very similar shape among the surviving pieces. The wood I used for all of the pieces except the ruhks came from 1 1/4" poplar dowels. The ruhks are from scrap bits of pine planks. The black pieces had black wood stain applied to them and the white pieces are coated in 100% unboiled linseed oil. The pieces have never been played with but they have developed a deep, tough patina from being left out in a well-lit and rather dusty room of a country house. They'll wear well and every piece is stout and would be very hard to break. I would like $100 + $10 shipping.

I accept payments via Paypal and ship USPS insured. Cheers!
