Regretfully selling my Helm

Post by Axel of Bendunfirth »

Bought a helm some years ago from Icefalcon Armories... seen here: http://store.fastcommerce.com/icefalcon ... 0ae-p.html

I see this comes at a bad time because its now currently on sale for a lot less than what I paid for it (bad luck on my part). :(

It is all stainless steel with brass accents.

It has seen few combats due to my fluctuating health and I have recently suffered a severe injury from heavy that has forced the hand of my fiance to have me promise her to not fight heavy again.

A little info about this helm: there was an issue when I bought it that the helm was too short and thus my chin and part of the neck was not covered, Icefalcon could not replace my helm or fix it for me so I had sir Katsu of Ealdormere weld an extra bit of coverage to make it legal. It is fully hidden beneath the aventail and offers no cosmetic backlash because of that, but makes it now safe and legal for SCA Heavy in Ealdormere. The welds are solid and can be seen in the pictures below. There are no dents or moth holes in this helm or aventail and it kept my noggin proected well, I am merely stepping out due to other non-related injury factors.

I can do paypal and am asking $800.00 Canadian for the helm due to how much I paid for it originally and the grief of giving up this sport pains me to give it up for any less. Buyer pays shipping.

Measures: fits my 23" (and a bit) head so might work for some smaller sized fighters. Due to the brass fittings I cannot get an accurate circumference of the helm but as I said it fits my 23" head.

I cant figure out how to post images so here's my photobucket gallery of the helm.... http://s1258.photobucket.com/user/Brad_ ... for%20sale

With our fit guarantee, there should not have been any reason to replace this helm for you when you bought it and found out it did not fit. I am curious to know more about what occurred when you did find out you had an issue. These helms sold for $795 when we first introduced them.

If I still had the e-mails that we had transpired and the same email address (I have changed email providers since then), I would quote you what you had told me, sadly I cannot do this. I do not wish to cause any commotion, so I will simply PM you what occurred as I don't wish to slander a business over a small issue like this. Especially with your good rep and the fact you did my bazubands so nicely.

As far as the cost of the helm. Originally I had spent somewhere along the lines of $1,000 on that helm.

Edit: I do not wish this to be a big thing of someone "picking on a vendor" or saying things transpired. That is why I'm keeping things private as to what occurred between the Duke and I. Icefalcon usually does nice work and did my bazubands quite well. Its simply due to what occurred, things could not have been fixed any other way, so my helm has weld marks on it. It is a sad day for me to be giving this sport up and I wish to have some of my investment back on it as I move forward with my life. This is NOT a flame against any vendor practices which may have occurred.

The discussion between Icefalcon and I have been resolved. we both agree why things happened the way they did and that I could not get a replacement or refund.

Being that as it may, and seeing the sale price on his website for the same helm new I am changing the price of my helm down to $750.00 Canadian. Again, this pains me due to the investment of this helm, getting the help to get it fixed to play and me not being able to fight heavy anymore really sucks so please post if there's any interest. I'd like to give my special hat a new good home.
