FS - Japanese Kote

This is a set of mild steel and cotton cloth kote, done in perhaps a non-traditional manner. I opted for a polished steel finish rather than enameled/laquered, and I believe they turned out rather well. I based this on an example shown in the book "Warrior; A Visual History of the Fighting Man" by R. G. Grant (Samurai armour, page 98-99), but did not do a plate-for-plate replica.

All of the steel plate is 18 gauge mild steel, polished to a high shine. The mail is 17 gauge round-and-bar style.
The base is three layers of cloth...a black cotton outer with yellow/gold inner and liner. Machine stitching was used where cloth met cloth, with hand-stitching everywhere else...metal to cloth and around the eyelets. The mail is also tacked to the cloth at various points to help keep the look.
The lacing used is nylon-based cording (you can replace this with ease if something else is preferred). The kote is laced up on the inside of the arm, and is held onto the hand by various laces as well. There are two eyelets at shoulder level to tie to an arming coat, etc.

The photos were taken with me wearing a traditional Western arming coat, so please keep that in mind.

For comparison, my measurements are as follows:
Wrist - 7 inches
Forearm (thickest part) - 12 inches
Bicep (flexed) - 13 inches
Point of elbow to wrist bone - 10.5 inches
Shoulder to point of elbow - 14.5 inches

The lacing at the inner arm can be tightened slightly or loosened quite a bit. The lacing at the hand and thumb can also be replaced with looser or tighter lacing as needed.

I am asking $350.00 USD, including shipping to the Continental US. If you are outside the Continental US and are interested, please let me know and I'll get a shipping quote.

Thanks for looking, and if there are any questions, please let me know!

I doubt it is SCA legal. I'm not up on the regulations, but....from what I remember, these would not fall into the safety requirements. Sorry about that!
