Selling things for cancer research - Arms & Armour book

Post by William Freskyn Murray »

So in the Buffalo NY area there is a facility called Roswell Park Cancer Institute that has been trying to find better treatments and ultimately a cure for cancer since its founding in 1898. They have done some great things. Each year there is a fundraiser called the Ride For Roswell where individuals raise donations to help support the cancer research that they are doing. Next Saturday 6/28 I will be riding 45 miles for the second time. In order to move me closer to my goal of raising $350 I am going to sell a few items here.

Couple things to note -
All prices include shipping, or if you prefer I will find you at Pennsic and hand the item to you. The point of this exercise is to raise donations for cancer research so I am not lowering the price if I don’t ship it just an FYI.

Payment will be made via the donation page I will attempt to link below.

All donations are tax deductible so in addition to getting a cool item you get a tax write off.

I have an insanely busy week so I will be checking the archive as I can but may be slow at times to respond and I will likely not be able to ship anything until Thursday night.

IF you do not want an item but still want to donate to a good cause I certainly wouldn't object and you get that whole tax write off thing.

Do not send me a PM or email saying you want an item. Post in this thread that you are taking an item and go make the donation so others are aware of what is sold. You can see others donations so if someone else has donated that same amount you may want to hold off and confirm because I don't think there is a way to un-donate once you submit.
I do this because I have lost three family members to cancer, lost friends and have watched people fight and "beat" the disease. Holding your fathers hand while he takes his last breathe is a memory you have forever, I am hoping that in some small way I can contribute to a solution that means my son will never have the memory of losing a parent to cancer.

*SOLD* First up for sale is a harbor freight knock off B2 sheer. Bought from Talbot here on the archive many years ago and picked up at Pennsic. It went on my bench and then I rearranged all my stuff and it never got mounted again. I occasionally used it by c-clamping it to the bench but honestly I have owed this 8 or 10 years and probably personally used it a half dozen times. I did somehow manage to lose the bolt that holds the handle on. $75 and I will ship it to you the least expensive way possible because it is a heavy s.o.b.. I would be happy to deliver at Pennsic instead. *SOLD*

*AWAITING PAYMENT* Next up a hard cover copy of Techniques of Medieval Armor Repair (TOMAR )by Brian Price, book is perfect I read the section on defending your hands before rebuilding a pair of gauntlets and otherwise it has been inside a glass door bookcase. The book still creaks and cracks when you open it. I am not a builder of armor I am a rebuilder so it's never been read. $60 and it is yours. *AWAITING PAYMENT*

Last up for now is a hard cover copy of Arms & Armour of the Medieval Knight by David Edge & John Miles Paddock. Read through it once, used it to show some people some pictures for inspiration and sat on a shelf. $40 and it’s yours.

If the link doesn’t work you can go to http://www.rideforroswell.org and click on the green “Donate” button; search by riders name Will Carson; click on the hyperlink of my name and then the green “Give Now” button.

Any questions email me at will.carson (at) Verizon (dot) net which will go to my phone and I should be able to answer pretty quickly, I just won’t be watching this thread too closely do to work and family commitments this week.

I have crummy cell phone pictures I will resize and add to this thread shortly but I have to grab lunch before my 2 o'clock webinar.

Thanks everyone
Will

And one quick side note if someone is not comfortable with the donation thing I will take paypal and then just make the donation from my paypal account to myself.
