I'm shopping around for period tents and just curious what people had and liked and where they purchased them. I had a panther regent and liked it just looking for options.

I have a 10 by 14 Viking tent from Midwest or south west tents something like that, and I love it, I take it to Gulf Wars, war of the wings, ..heat, heavy rain, cold, heavy wind I've never had a problem.

I have 1 Midwest cone tent. If we were to buy another, it would be a Midwest pavillion type. Love their price-point, and good quality, also.

My Panther Bellwedge is a pretty cool tent. I actually picked it up heavily used and it is still going strong.

I will just provide a little advice. Having owned at least 8 medieval pavilions and bought them from several different vendors, I have pretty good experience with them. All of the main vendors are great, Tent Smiths, Panther, Past Tents (UK), Four Seasons Tentmasters etc.

For a vendor it comes down to the minor things that you may want. Some do color canvas, some will even paint your tent. Some have the complete kit and some may have you provide your own poles.

But when selecting the style tent you want, I would first ask "What am I going to use it for". Some tents are more suited for the task. Marquees are great for merchanting and larger families. Round tents are beautiful but have one drawback. You lose space because it is round and most, if not all things you place in it are square. Wedge tents are nice and portable but need to be of sufficient size or you will have to stand in the middle to be able to do things like change clothes comfortably.

Last thing to consider. Size. Always by a little bigger if you can. Because you may be single now but may not be later. So you may want to be able to have an extra person be able to stay. I went from being single to a 4 person house. If you don't go bigger you will just be purchasing another tent a little bit down the road. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck in your purchase!
