I have had this for a while, I have never padded it, or fought in it; However, the guy I bought if from only used it a handful of times. it is 16g carbon steel, The opening for the eyes is 1". I have a 24" head - unpadded there was still adequate space for padding, even for a larger sized head. Right now it is painted with chrome spray paint, which gives it a slight gray to silver coloring. There are no dents, however, there are small amounts of surface rust on the inside. I would like $100 plus s&h/..........or open for trade

No one wants to trade anything for this awesome unique rare helm...?

16 gauge is awfully thin for sports combat like SCA, and it is not living history quality.

That said, It could be worth a loaner or at least a new pell-bucket. What kind of trades are you looking for?

I would trade for some old rusty gauntlets in size large that are safe, any rapier equipment for my wife... any type of brass lamellar plates.... a kite shield... just a few things I could think of that I need

And most of your starter Helms are 16g, my first one was, for a beginner just learning to fight this helm would be great, or an experienced fighter who does not get hit very much,... if you get hit in the head several times a day no this helm is not for you ,I would suggest 12g

I may be wrong but 16G is no longer legal for SCA heavy fighting

It is legal, but no one would use it. The rules also say we can use 3/16 bar grills, but no one uses less than 1/4 inch. Especially one piece construction like that, it wouldn't last more than a fighter practice or so. It might very well sell in another game though. It would be a nice larp helmet I imagine.

If the helm was build out of 16ga mild steel, then more than likely it is not thick enough now for SCA combat.

Also, 1" wide eye slots are to big for SCA combat. The rule states:
3. Face guards shall prevent a 1-inch (25.4mm) diameter dowel from entering into any of the face guard openings.

So, if the gap is 1" chances are a 1" dowel will pass through.

Actually the eyes are just under 1 inch this is an SCA legal helm, if you do a lot of fighting and are not really good this is not the helm for you, even it being 16 gauge it is in really good shape for its age, its been sitting on the shelf for almost a decade I just thought I would throw it on here to see if someone else could use it...
