Rattan, Local Supplier

Post by Jehan de Pelham »

I live in the Midrealm and am interested in finding a local supplier of rattan. I need some nice straight sticks in 1 1/4" for a variety of weapons: single-hand swords, two handed swords, and a spear. I also need some larger gauge rattan (2 1/2") for an experiment.

I understand that Baron Erik from Indianapolis has taken to mercantile activity of late and might be a good source.

Ice Falcon's may not be local but his pricing is hard to beat, especially if you can put together a group order.

We have plenty of spears laying around- don't worry about that.

We have mostly 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 in stock, but we also have larger sizes. I can get just about any common (1" - 3") size you might need. Prices may be higher for larger diameter sizes.

Sorry for not replying sooner, but I was prepping for merchanting rattan at Midrealm Crown.

So, yes, I'm a Midrealm Rattan supplier.

I have plenty on hand including over 2".

Contact me (echance@uindy.edu) and we can work out the details.

BTW, I should have a website up sometime in the next few weeks (barring more near disasters)

what are the average shipping prices for rattan?

does it have to be cut to be shipped by certain carriers?

I know most staves I buy come in at around 9ft, but shipping something that long would prohibitive...I would think...

Over six feet seems to be deterent pricing (UPS - a 6' single piece is over $18) I'm checking on the rates soon.

It's been a couple of years, but Master Roderick shipped me a fiberglass spear using USPS and it was very cheap.
