Looking to purchase sword length rattan - having trouble finding any in stock. Anyone got any for sale?

it depends a bit on where you are.
Icefalcon and munition grade arms are common on the east coast centeral USA.
Shipping costs are reasonable under a certain length.

West coast has a few other options.
Shipping to Europe, Asia, Africa, Pacific rim, and NZ/Australia can get expencive.
At that point it may be cheaper to use another vendor or find someone traveling that can have the rattan as checked luggage

This is most of the USA nowadays. Rattan furniture has been dying in popularity for over a decade for a variety of reasons. Few stores for rattan-furniture making have survived, as a hobby it's almost totally dead. And the few stores that are left have little reason to carry SCA sized sticks.

I'm unaware of any rattan furniture shops - but I haven't really looked. I've always just purchased rattan at events; just haven't been to any in quite some time. I'm a Vermonter

Yeah, a lot of the SCAdians try and keep a contact with rattan-furniture makers if any are around, who ship in their raw material and form it in-shop. What those guys do for woven cane bottoms and such I don't know -- also in-shop? Anyway, rattan chair guys love us because we are steady consumers, always coming back for a little more. A whole extra market for them, and they're used to us by now -- "Those SCA people, they like 1 1/2"-1 3/4" rattan and larger, I'll lay these aside..."

At worst, there may be a furniture maker in the NYC area -- if you're actually willing to endure an hour in a State that is quite the opposite of "Vermont carry" of concealed weapons. Some aren't, you know -- I'll say no more.

Do *not* buy from H.H. Perkins!

They have a bad habit of sending different diameters than what was ordered without notifying the person receiving the item in advance. When I order 1 3/4" diameter rattan, I don't want to get 1 1/2". When I complained, they replied that 1 1/2" is SCA legal and should work fine. I want to either get what I ordered or an email discussing alternatives *before* the wrong item is shipped.

I'm having good results from these people.

When you order from us, you can request a particular thickness and have it cut to a particular length. After 30 years of selling rattan for our purposes, you will be hard pressed to find someone who know more about the rattan that is best for what we do. At one time, we were one if not the ONLY place to get SCA rattan. Furniture stores will sell you dried out rattan. There are 3 types of rattan on the market today. The best is Manal. Philippine and Burmese are also sold by vendors. Understanding what we sell and what to look for when you are buying rattan is what you will get when you purchase from us. In the 1980's, we sold rattan for $20 a nice foot stave. We are still doing it.

We don't carry shaved rattan. The strength in rattan is the skin. I do not want to sell you something that will fall apart quickly. We sell 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch and also 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 rattan. If you want thicker than that, I would go with Baron Erik. He's a nice guy too.
