Market survey- Banner Stand

What do you think I could ask for just the base, painted or unpainted ( shipped ) or the base and
pole, painted or unpainted ( hand delivered locally only )
The stand uses a standard wooden closet rod as the pole, available from Home Depot and Lowes
and probably any other lumber supply. Shipping the pole is kind of a stupid extra expense.
I've surveyed my current materials and tools and space and I can make 4 maybe 5 of these
and hopefully put the cash into a new table saw to get me back to the point of being able
to make more stuff again.
What do you think I should be asking for these?

Its hard to gauge a price on stuff like this. Its DAMN useful, and its dead sexy! Your material cost could be kept low, what do you value your time at and how long does it take to get one of these cut, run through the router and brought down to a paint finish? I know people can be remarkably . .. . . I use the word "frugal" (to mean cheap and stupid) when they see something they think they can make.

In the SCA market place probably start around $65
I know for me materials would run close to $35 and finished it would look like crap.

Conal, you should be able to get $55-60 each. Those look sweet!

Off the top of my head I know it would be a total impulse buy @ the magic (human nature) price of $49. I'd agree with the others that even slowing down to think a bit, $64.99 would be a good deal if a few of the value points were talked up (e.g. three points of contact to more stable, easy set-up/take-down, finished & ready for easy DIY milk paint periodish colours, etc.). Strongly suspect you could do a couple production runs, finish in major heraldic/household/baronial colours and get buyers at upcoming events too.

Take one of the belt rings you cut off your belt, add three short ropes.
Put the pole through the ring on top of the center section and stake the ropes
down and it makes the stand nice and stable outside on a windy day without
modifying ( drilling holes in the legs ) the stand.
( then put a buckle on your belt )

That leg attachment is genius!
Is there any period artwork or examples this is based off of? (not counting the legs attachment method, just the concept and/or design)
Does the pole go in the center (where the bolt / screw is visible to hold it up off the ground) or in the leather loop in front? Or both? I'd probably opt for one without the bolt/leather, and with the hole not drilled all the way through.
I think two options of simple "straight leg" or "fancy leg" (as you've done) might help by having two price points.
I'd be interested but not until 2015; holiday finances and all that.
I like 'em!

The metal pin in the hole goes through the upright pole to keep it from twisting. That lets you
decide which way the banner faces, not the wind.
The hole for the pole does not go all the way through.

Ah, the pole hole wood looked like concrete showing through. I see it now.
I'm interested. Any historical precedence to these? Interested either way, just curious. Would be Jan/Feb before I buy though.

None that I am aware of. I designed then to fill a modern SCA need and that was as far as I looked.
lol You would have to ask Karen Larsdatter. She seems to know something about everything.

Better looking than those iron portable holes- but a good deal more expensive too. I like it- sort of looks like the bottom of a hat rack (the legs). Would be good for indoor application- a banner on a foreshortened pole, for instance.
