LARCENY MOST FOUL

Post by Hrolfr »

Forwarded from another list, thanks for the use of bandwidth.....

Somebody stole Sir Gerwulf af Dokktungle’s armor from his vehicle at Maiden’s on Saturday. Any information as to it’s whereabouts would be greatly appreciated. Any tip as to who did this would be GREATLY appreciated.

If the person who committed such a heinous breach of Chivalry is monitoring this List, I would ask that you kindly return the items no questions asked, hell just lie and say you “foundâ€

I realize this was forwarded, but also since very few people know what/where "Maiden's" is, a location would be helpful, too.

Hrolfr,
If you see a person wearing this distinctive garb and/or amour at an event, you would be advised to make sure that the person wearing it/them is indeed a thief, not some newbie or innocent that bought them, before trying what would be illegal action.

"Festival of Maidens" The SCA Event this past Saturday (Jan. 24) in Champaign-Urbana Illinois (Barony of WurmWald).

I don't know about the armor itself but the over-tunic is black and yellow with silk-screened knotwork, and there are two belts, one black and yellow, the other white with bronze buckle and belt-tip from Raymond's Quiet Press.

One has to wonder why the hell they are going to steal armour from a local event.

Eventually, if they are dumb enough to wear the armour & garb, someone is going to see them...

Here's an example of the Darkmoon tunic colors and design. Alot of their gear is similar and distictive in the Midwest ...

I hope to God this is just some prank gone horribly awry. If they're in the SCA, Christ pity them. I wouldn't want Darkmoon on my ass!

Totally agree ... the though of Angus (a former infantry senior NCO with an overly active imagination) and Gerwulf looking for me at various SCA events (which is pretty much the only places you'd wear them at ...) is not a happy thought!

Valstarr,
I apologize for the vaugeness of the post, it came from a kingdom list, and I didn't pay attention to the localness of the wording.
Also, this came from the squire of the person who's armor was stolen, they are not my words. I rarely advocate unmitigated violence.

The most distinctive part of the armor would be the helm, black with brass nasal and occulars.
Also, Sir Gerwulf is (approximately) 5'7" and 175 pounds (or at least he was when I saw him last, last summer).

Thanks to whomever added the link with Sir G's picture (for the tunic).

Ian and T-Bob are correct. Darkmoon has *very* distinctive tunics. I guess I would caution *everyone* not to buy something that fit this description.
A whole mess'o'Moonies sweeping down on the person not from their Household, wearing their Household belt and livery wouldn't be a pretty site. I'm sure that there would be an opportunity to explain where it was obtained......

(edited to add some stuff)

Yep, especially Gerwulf knows I live in the GWN, about an hour north of a cabin his family owned

Hrolfr,
My apologies, and my post may have been too harsh anyway. I know it would be aggravating to lose sentimental favorites, some stuff can be impossible no matter how much money one has, and then there are times in people's lives where there current financial condition wouldn't allow them to replace their gear.
I hope he recovers his stuff, even if none of these applies.

Regards,
Valstarr
