Mild steel corazina kit- Sold.

This has sold.

Finally finished the corrazina kit.

As is, this is sized for about a 42-44 inch chest/36-38 waist, over a 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick gambeson.

The kit is made from the pattern sold by Historical research press.

Doug's instructions say that a 1/8th inch spacing between plates is recommended, but that the spacing can be increased to fit a larger size.

If you have around a 46 inch chest, I can make some longer side plates to throw in to give you another 2-4 inches width.

Most of the plates are 16 gauge mild, with the fauld and 3 backplates in 18 gauge.

No holes are drilled, and the plates are not painted.

Doug's description to making the cover is to separate the set into front and back plates, and lay the material or leather down and cut it off about 2 inches wider all around then you need.
Then you glue the center down and work the material down towards the edges, avoiding bubbles or wrinkles.
The fauld cover is done separate and sewn or riveted onto the bottom of the breastplate sets.

I strongly suggest buying a copy of the instructions before assembling the kit.
They are minimal, but having them in hand will give you as much information as I have in making the corrazina.

The set is fully formed and planished, but individual plates will probably need to be tweaked a bit to fit your specific body.
This can be done without special tools, and most of it can be done with bare hands or a pair of pliers.

The kit is $250 plus shipping.
I will need your address to get a shipping quote; but I have a way to get the shipping down a bit, as most of the plates will fit into a large priority mail flat rate box.
Even the faulds.
I have a few of the really long board game boxes, and I have already checked to make sure they fit.

The breast plate halves will most likely have to be sent separately, but its much cheaper than throwing it all into one large box.

If you are in southern California, you can make arrangements to pick it up and save shipping.

Payment by paypal, and thanks for looking.

Yes, theres a ton of duct tape- But its the only way I could get the plates to hang together on the mannequin.

I can take all the tape off and lay the plates out flat if someone needs a photo of the complete set that way.

What are the chances of this kit being made in stainless steel? Is it possible to do one for a 60 inch chest and belly?

Not anytime soon.
Maybe when I have some cash for more materials.

For the moment, I am too broke to buy more steel, and my time is spoken for for at least a month.

Why would you want this in stainless? You're going to be putting the plates inside of a shell, so you can just spray them with rustoleum.

Rustoleum eventually flakes off with use. In the south it's so humid that it will rust from any unprotected point.

Will entertain trade offers for riveted or welded maille that I can use.

No butted please: I have a plastic tub full of butted maille and do not need any more.

Might consider trades for interesting swords, maces, poleaxes, etc.

Might consider other trades. Doesn't hurt to ask. :)
