I know this is somewhat off topic, but these things are, to me, modern examples of the type of workmanship that existed back a thousand years ago. Fine wool was not nubby or scratchy, it had every potential of being quite soft. And the designs possible by hand weaving are amazing. These shawls are modern examples of a very old craft, though I have no idea if the shape is period. We only get about two or three dozen at a time, and almost every shipment has something different.

(A friend of mine in New York has these brought in, I do not import them. I can request colors, but not designs, and he will try to get something for me.)
