I replied in the other thread, but will post here as well....You should check out Forth Armouries. I honestly believe Steven's maile to be the best offered in our game, for the price he is asking. Wonderful work at reasonable rates!

I agree, Forth Armory is the place to go. I got tons of compliments on my new shirt and camail at Estrella War, even though most of the time it was covered by a kingdom war tabard.

Great product and top notch business practices. Price may be a bit high, but you get what you pay for. Awesome stuff.

Greetings Wyrmspleen, I have to agree with Uilleag, Forth Armoury has some really nice maille but my personal preference is Stainless.
I hate getting rust all over everything and having to deal with the constant maintenence of steel. Here are two sources, that carry stainless, if you decide to go that route.
http://www.therionarms.com (carries rivited stainless)
http://www.weldedchainmail.com/ (carries welded stainless flatwire This is very cool stuff)

As I said earlier, Steve at Forth Armoury makes great riveted mail I just wanted to let you know of the stainless option.

Hope this helps.
Yours in service,
James of York

best to shop before buying

Since this is the classified section I guess I can advertise shamelessly.
I believe my 8mm wedge riveted to be identical with that imported by Forth. At a third less price. IF you want top of the line, this is it. I also have 14mm flat riveted and 10mm round. You can get a riveted shirt for as low as $350 depending on type and size. I am in stock and ready to ship, let me know what you are looking for.

Sussen,

Do you have a web site? or pictures? I'd love to see your work? What's your turn around time / cost for a 1/2 sleeve shirt that comes to about knee length, split in front and back to the crotch on a 5'8"/ 160lb. frame?

Is your wedge riveted flat or round wire?

The wedge riveted is all flat ring, I thank that is the only way you can do it. I have a 6-8 week turn around on custom orders. A knee length 8mm wedge/flat is $1250. I am working on pictures and a site now, but that is why I am giving a 10 day return policy. I have been in business for many years and can supply references if you like.

I've got a galvanized, rivited 16 guage 3/8" haulberk for $400.00, with coif $500.00, worn about six times, with the collar properly done (not a "low-back" circle).

I'm 5'10" and was about 170 - 180 lbs. in this picture.

I have had Von Sussen's riveted steel and aluminum, (before anyone was doing wedge) and can vouch for his integrity, honesty, and quick delivery. Now I gotta upgrade. Darn.

Not to be offensive but that seems to be the same in cost as Steve's maille. You said earlier you have it at a third the cost.

prices

Post by sussen »

The $1250 quote was for a large size long (knee length) custom order, I think that is cheap. However. it looks like the prices have dropped on the forth site. I am working on my site now and I may adjust my prices. I have every intention on being low priced.

Ah, imitation, the finest form of flattery! :)

Yes, it does seem that, like many Indian armour pieces, other manufacturers have finally picked up on the technique I taught to my original manufacturer.

This is good news for consumers, because it undoubtably means lower prices.

Rest assured, Forth Armoury will compete on price.
