13th century arms and legs 16gg S.S. cops under way....

Post by Gruber »

Our first armour run is going to be 13th century arms and legs with 16gg Stainless elbow and knee cops. The cuisses will be leather; and the arms will be 1050 18gg for the vambraces. we'll be making two pair of each to be ready for shipping by the end of next week. We don't have a price nailed down yet but they're being built specifically for SCA fighter's pocket books, we are really attacking the angle that our combat gear should look better than alot of "off the shelf" stuff that's out there.
We all know how Aleric feels about how a fighter should represent his time period, and I hope my work comes accross with alot of attention to detail and function. We see this as a really nice union between the two of us to put out some great looking stuff without breaking our friend's bank accounts.
We have ordered an air hammer to cut down on time, so I can still say "look at the smoooth curves" without spending hours on achieving them. None of our pieces will be stamped out, our goal with the air hammer is to move the metal the same way I do using the traditional stuff, only quicker with possibly more uniform results.
As far as gothic or late 15th century work goes, there are some things we still have to do completely by hand.
I hope this gives you guys who are interested in our work a little bit more insight on what's to come. Drop us an email if you're interested in a set of arms or legs, it would be nice to have some motivation for our first few sets of armour....
Thank you,
Gruber and Aleric

Wow. That's some impressive stuff.
I'm currently in the market for some 13th century knees. Possibly elbows and shoulders as well.
Will you only be doing the full limb harnesses or will you be doung a run of simple 13th C knees and elbows?

I like what you have done so far. I am interested in some of the 13th century armor. But right now I really need gauntlets first, then I can go from there. I fight in the SCA in Atlantia. What armor I have right now is just bits and pieces to help me get buy. I hope to have some better armor as time goes. Let me know how much the stuff is going to cost.

Bests of luck in all things

Vogiljager; The armour will be full arm and leg defense, minus the grieves...
Aedivor; Gauntlets will be coming a few months later... Hour glass type fingers, I strongly suggest Sasuke's hour glass gaunts if you're in the market for them now... I've used them myself and they're spectacular in function and looks.
We'll have prices and pics hopefully by the end of next week when we finish a couple of pair of each.
