In need of a heater style shield blank for SCA combat.

I am in desperate need of a new or used heater style shield blank. I've tried ebay, and several armourers, but they have nothing in stock right now, and wait time is several weeks. If anyone is selling one or has an extra that they won't use and wants to sell please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike Page

If interested in laminated void-free natural birch contact Royce Kessler at rkkessler@earthlink.net

Royce's shields are simply the best-made wooden shields I have ever found.

If interested in aluminum contact Sir Thorfinn aka Fred Hermann at fhermann@medplus.com

Thorfinn's are the best-value aluminum shields that I have ever found.

Both make excellent products, are very reputable, and have always delivered for me on-time without any hiccups.

Hope this helps,
Leo

Hit ya a scrap yard and get a big street sign for next to nothing, then hit it with the jigsaw and run it over with a car or truck to curve it :P

I have one available, mine are made from void free russian birch, 2 1/4 in pieces glued into a curve and placed inside a 15 ga welded steel frame.
They are strong and light, and wood, if thats an issue, i realy prefer wooden shields myself.

Gretchen,

I'm pimping Sir Thorfinn's shield blanks because they'll one, do the trick, and two, he's using the proceeds to put himself in a new metal lamellar harness, rather than a plastic one. So, supporting Sir Thorfinn's efforts has further benefits than just the sale.

I'll order a couple of my lord's books from you to salve the sting. : )

Lol...thanks for the plug Jehan!
I just do what I can as cheaply as I am able to get folks on the field.
I am not trying to steal business, just feed my SCA habit...and a very expensive (to me anyway) new set of armor.

Just shoot me a message if you want to comparison shop.

Thanks again!
Thorfinn, saving his money
