Post by Garth »

Stumbled across this on a home improvement forum, thought it interesting if valid.

Any of you tried this?

Have fun,

I have not built it, I've never seen it before, and I'm only a hack electrical guy, but I see some issues.

#1, anything you build yourself would probably have a very short duty cycle (use vs. cooldown time)

#2, the amperage is not adjustable (from what I can tell from the schematics) which makes it almost completely useless except on a specific thickness of steel.

I love the concept! I'd gladly try my best to build one, but I think it's too narrow of a product. I could be wrong, I only did a cursury glance at it.

Edit: Ahem. Read article, then post. I'm unsure about the control system for amperage (and modifying the transformers) but it seems reasonable. If anyone makes one, I'd like to hear about it.
It's up to you now.
