Wood carving - waddaya think?

Post by Mike Garrett (Orc) »

Not by me!
George & the Dragon
Bought it at a jumble sale today. Looking at the quality etc I'd say it was a student piece. Still rather like it. I like the rather Middle-eastern/Near-east flavour of the knight. All carved from a single piece of wood.
Probably going to ebay, less any of you good folks want to get in there first!
Size is about 23 x 18 inches.

Nice Mike, Good find.
Education is a crutch with which the foolish attack the wise to prove that they are not idiots.

Okay -

Is that George, or is it Michael?

I'd say George. The creature is reptilian - I know dragon enters into the stories of both saints but the is a maiden/princess/female of the opposite sex prominent in the background to the left.
