It's brand new, I just purchased last week. Only problem is, it doesnt fit (i'm 5'8'' and 160lbs). Take a look, lemme know what you think or if you need more pictures. I got it at a reasonable rate, and am moving it at cost. Lemme know if youre interested~ bigbenstiller@yahoo.com

Is it too big or too small? Measurements?

How much is cost?

It was too big. The breastplate fit all right while wearing padding (it is about 46'' around). The arms are 10'' from the end of the shoulders to the middle of the elbow, and 16'' from the wrist to the middle of the elbow as well. Legs measure 22'' from the floor to the middle of the knee. Like I said before, I'm only 5'8'' and it was about 2-3 inches too big. My sister's fiancee tried it on as well, and while wearing padding had it fit him reasonably well (he's 5'11). The shoulders and arms are well articulated, allowing someone as big as 6'4 or so to fit comfortably in it.

I think you might want to state the details, as in what material (stainless, carbon steel, etc..) and what gauge the armor is... is it SCA legal etc etc. If the original seller has a website that lists these details that'd be ideal.

It's 18-gauge steel with brass accents. Local marshall said it was SCA legal. Gorget is 16-gauge steel with heavy leather.

What is the price?

Yes please post your desired cost.

I happen to be looking for something a bit flashy right now.

Or should we just start an ad hoc auction on it.

$150

For everything, I paid a grand total of $700. Individually, I paid $375 for the arms, shoulders, and breast plate, $225 for the legs, and $ 100 for the gorget (not pictured here, but I can send you some if you're interested). If anyone's interested, let me know :D

Thanks guys

haha apparently I may have been scammed originally, so if someone wants to make me an offer, I'm all ears.

:?:
Scammed? Why scammed?

From the pictures, I'd say that $700 isn't very far off the mark at all.

Perhaps you are referring to the sizing?
(as in, the seller knew it wouldn't fit)

Good luck,

Idëval

Hell, my helm alone cost much more than that. (Not that I'm complaining; I had the money at the time.)

I wouldn't worry about what you paid.

If the elbow and knee cops are of 18 gauge, then they would not be legal according to sca minimum standards...
This would strictly be sellable to ren fair goers or something similiar.

On a good note, if you saw something on my website you might be interested in, I might consider a trade. I like to take a look at other peoples work at times to see the good points and the bad. I assume this is from India?? Directly or indirectly.. If not, who made it..

I should have also stated that everything but the elbow and knee cops sounds sca legal...

I fail to see where the 18 guage elbows and knees would not be legal.

It falls under the rigid material requirement, and as such is open to debate.
is 18 ga equivalent to 2 layers of 8 oz leather? I think so. Others may not.

Now point coverage is another arguement entirely. I would have to see the items as they are worn to make a call.

I know of no legitimate armory producing elbow and knee cops in less than 16 gauge mild steel. Vagueness or not..

Nevertheless 18 gauge steel is legal for everything except the helmet.

My kingdom reads "16 gauge steel or equivalent", so these would not be legal in my kingdom. I forget the SCA itself has lower standards than what the actual kingdoms might accept. You could not wear those into combat here, but there might be kingdoms where you could.

Well I would like to publicly post that I was dead wrong...
I spoke to a regional marshall today who said the kingdom laws had changed "recently", but I think he meant within the past several years. When I asked why it was stuck in my head that we only accept 16 gauge (or equivalent) he said that back in the dinosaur era when I joined, that was probably convention in this kingdom.

No worries.
But that is your one slip-up for the year, any future mistakes will have to be punished accordingly.

I would bet that you got it from Valentine Armouries. I think that $700 would be about right for that suit from them- maybe a little less than what they normally charge for it.

It looks like it was made by Hind Handicrafts, who do most of the production work for Valentine. Most of the work from India comes in 18 ga.

do these look familiar?

Nah it wasn't Valentine. I forget where exactly because I lost the site, but I know it wasn't them. Haha I was thinking about purchasing a set of gauntlets from them because their trim matched the one on my suit, which I thought was funny.

No, it was from eBay, from a guy named KingsLance - he sells a lot of cheap Indian mail. What set it off was the little camera in the bottom right hand corner, only eBay has that little logo.

And $700 is way off, this set is only a little over $500. Even if you didn't get this from him... you got pretty ripped.

The knee and elbow cops look to "flat" to function properly.Maybe I'm wrong, but they look to need more dishing or raising..Otto
