House of the Wolf gauntlets

Post by Ottar »

I was looking into buying a set of full gauntlets from House Of The Wolf and was wondering what other people's experiances are with them. How well do the protect, and hold up. And do the move easily, or are they sticky, 'cause with them being leather I'm afraid that the articulation will stick. Also, I noticed on his home page that an order can take six months or more, is that true? (he could probably answer that)

Are you talking about the full gauntlets?

From my past dealings with Dan, I would say that the gauntlets are almost certainly of the highest possible quality and that he will do everything in his power to get anything you order to you as quickly as he can.

House of the Wolf has one the the best (and well-earned) reputations in the armouring community. Hence the long queue.

They're water hardened sole leather. Animal Weretiger says he's taken some a-bombs on them and they held fast.

Yup. I love mine. I cant say enough good things about House of the Wolf as a business and Dan as a person. Seriously. Money well spent.

Second that reccomendation - the set I had before my current gauntlets were from HOTW - and were very good quality and design. And his customer service is top notch!

I want to thank everyone for the high praise on my gauntlets in particular and my business in general. :D

My que is currently 3 - 6 months long with a 6 month delivery garauntee, however, I am averaging about 4 months currently, with some projects getting completed sooner, depending on volume of orders.

Ya, I'm very interested in those, my email is norsemaille at yahoo.com, if you send me some pics I will see how they look. How big are they, my hands are pretty small, but yet I will probably be growing some more, but still, I don't want them to be too over sized. And where did you get them from, are they from HOTW?

I don't have a pic of Stephen's gaunts, but here is a pic of a pair of mine.

<IMG src="http://www.houseofthewolf.com/gallery/gauntlets/rkgauntlets2.jpg">

The thumb is slot riveted for better articulation. The over-under configuration of the finger lames allows tighter articulation without deminishing lame width for a more comfortable fit. The finger lames are designed to make contact with the haft of the weapon so that force impact is trasfered to the weapon and not your hands. Leather strapping and finger/thumb attachments are included, standard. The wrist articulation matches the width of the wrist for better mobility. Every custom pair is sized to fit the individual purchasing them so that they fit and move with the client's specifications.

If you have any questions, please email me and I would love to size you for a pair! I know that my wait list is rather formidable, but I get through all of my orders within the timeline I provide, and I keep my customer's informed throughout the purchase and production period.

I have purchased hardened vambraces from HOTW and they well exceeded my expectations. His price and his attention to detail in work and buisness practice are VERY good.
I offered to you a pair of leather gaunlets I have for sale only after HOTW let you know of his QUE. If he had said he could start on them sooner than a few months I would not have offered mine to you out of respect for HOTW. I have had good dealings with this company and would not repay them by cutting in on a sale.
HOTW has even offered to put up pics of my leather gauntlets on the archive for me. How many people out there would do that seeing how he makes his living selling his leather armor.
Just my .02 Anyway, I would say if you do not have to have them right away go with HOTW. I am sure you will love his work. If you feel the need for gauntlets asap then I have a pair.

Stephen,

Your words of endorsement really humble me. I really appriciate your support and I wanted to take the time to thank you publiclly for your kind words.

The offer to host your gauntlet pictures still stand if you need it. I love friendly competition in the armour market. Without it, none of us would strive to be competitive and our skills would stagnate. Without impetus to watch our prices and quality control, we wouldn't strive to continually improve.

Let me know if I can ever be of service to you.

I just recieved my HOTW gauntlets today, (had them delivered to the office so I could show off) 8)

They are everything I had hoped they'd be... I have yet to try them in combat, but I fully expect that they'll perform wonderfully, just like the bazubands and greaves I purchased last year...

Dan has -by far- the best customer service of any web-based business I've ever dealt with... He keeps you informed, and is prompt in responding to e-mail...

I too, highly recommend his work.
