2 inches above the top of the knee length. I'd prefer to have one made but I'm willing to buy stock if I like it.

Look under Arming Clothes. Matuls does some of the best aketons I've ever seen, and I'm definitely considering getting one for myself if I ever scrounge up the monies.

No, thats a cheap price, my wife gets 340.00 for hers which i think is cheap for the labor involved, thats machine stitched with hand sewn point holes made from linnen or fustian with cotton batting.

Pricie???
Maybe you looked at the wrong prices as he mades a
hand sewn model, a leather shell model, or a machine sewn model with some hand work.
The standard machine sewn model is 110 euros (about $140 USD) , made in linen and
tailored to your body... this is not off the peg wear.
I have 2 Tomm's aketons so far and I'm planing a buying a few more as money allows.
My group in Alaska is on his list of buyers as we have bought a number of items from Tomm in the last 2 years...
Below is a picture of some of the pikemen in the group. From right to left
the first 3 and the fifth aketons as all Matuls... the 4 and 6 on the left are older ones we made ourselves.
We use ours both as living history gear and as protective gear for sword play with wooden wasters, bamboo, and
steel blunts.. I find my two Matuls aketons a joy to use and wear... heck, mine is drying out from some sprited sword play this morning at the gym with my two fellow WMA instructors. Oh... and I have YET to find a aketon/gambeson made in in the US as well padded as Tomm's.
Cheers,

Are you high?!!?
Seriously though.... Matuls makes amazing stuff that is highly protective. His regular clothing is also well made and durable. You can not go wrong with him.

How well do the matuls aketons move? The photos on the website look well padded to the point of stiffness (but then its hard to tell from photos...)

Well, he does have the right to his opinion.
I use both of my aketons, the one pictured above (I'm the far right) as my fav for most living history events, and my other (which is the same model the other guys have on) as my WMA coat... and we train in a 1746 school of baskethited broadsword that is quite energetic... and the blows recieved can have a bit of power behind them. I have done fight demo in both coats, pike drills and marching... they move well for me and we all have been happy with the fit and finish.(I think we have 8 or so of them in our group)
When it come to trashing his design... which one? Tomm makes 4 styles of basic models with upgrades (quilting styles removable sleeves, puff sleeves, buckle closures, etc..), a 20 or 30 layer jack and a arming doublet....
Do you remember what he disliked?
Cheers,
