Need 5-lame knees with good inside knee coverage

Recently I posted about a problem I was having with my knees, where I was getting hit in the back of the knee fairly often when people threw leg wraps at me. I was considering Stonekeep for new knees when my friend ordered a pair of their splinted legs. I waited till he got them, tried them on, and without kneepads at all, metal straight on the knee, the insides of my knee joints are exposed. With my finger perpendicular to the inside of my knee, I could touch the knee bone close to the base of my kneecap. I think I have weird knees or something. Almost 3 inches of of the side of my knee was exposed.
Granted, I can probably solve the overall problem with some technique training, but while I'm learning to avoid this, I need some protection before I get hurt from all these deep wraps people throw at me. Don't know why I'm the only one around with this problem.
Now I've seen some knees that have the center cop extended back on the inside of the knee to help cover this, but I can't find someone online who makes them.
Any armouries out there that can probably accomodate this? Is this going to be some kind of custom job?
Also, are their any armouries that could possibly do this that also makes knees with roundels instead of fans?

I believe what are you refering to are "Pavelets". Master Pavel from Calontir had this piece of armour named after him. When he would inspect armour the inside of the knee was always a sticking point with him. So, to remedy this people started riveting small "demi" fans to the inside of the knee cop. Ie, a "Pavelet".
I think Waldryk still makes knee cops with Pavelets on them.
you can see them here:

We do a custom knee that has a bit more meat on the inside of the knee. I am going to be away for a few weeks for training but can have them for you shortly after Gulf Wars if you wish.
Cheers!

Another option would be to shell out for generic 5 piece knees and then just take 'em to any local armourer in your area. It would take an hour tops to add little fans to the inside and convert the outside fans to roundels.

I'm sure glad this topic came up (and my name was in it so I knew to read it).. I like this "Pavelets" idea...
I have also been a big fan of rondels, so Im not real sure why I dont have any on my website.
I will get both of these things done by end of the week... I think I already have several gothic fanless cops lying around, so I will whip up some 5 pc knees with them, then attach some rondells and these "pavelets". Then get some pictures out. I will then go through the website and add the pavelets option to all of my products. That's a helluva idea that fellow came up with. I've experimented with just lengthing the inside, but they did not look right to me. Thanks for the history on them so I can give him credit.
I will get those pics up. If you don't want them, no biggie. I figure if one person wants something 100 more do that don't speak up.

Yeah i love those too, good idea, i was wondering if i was the only person who thought that the inside knee was open to be attacked.

In 11 years of fighting, I can't say ive ever been hit on the inside knee or even thigh (which better be what the guy was aiming for). The closest I have ever come was a stabbing tip to the inside thigh under a shield, but i am a big believer in options and solving problems, so if people are concerned about it then i will definitely make up some of these inner fans as an option on all of my leg products (even cops).
Speaking of, does anyone have a better picture of some of these pavelets that we could look at? Im going to be designing some tomorrow when I get into the office, and try to get some cut out , added, and some pics taken by Tues at the latest.

well, that makes sense.... although, honestly, not pleasing to my eye..
Definitely a quick fix, and I've added that option to all my leg products, such as at the bottom of this page;

I still have an apprentice out there finishing and edging some of these "pavelets", and I believe they will be much more pleasing to the eye after being fluted and attached. I will probably put both options on the website since you can't offer too many options.

Hey Ceddie,
Yea, Im going to cut the ends like that for the main purpose of "keeping things straight", so I dont mix these extended cops up with regular cops. But I am going to bring them back about 2-3 inches as well.
On the Pavelets, I just finished fluting and placing them on a set of our instock 5 pc knees. (pic at end of post).
I then nailed them with one of my rattan swords with excellent results.
Putting them on, I did not see where they would be too big as to be cumbersome or in the way whatsoever. The design I came up with was different from what i saw on Waldryks link, and the reason is his had to be put on at the time the order was placed (it appeared). This design allows me to take a 5 pc knee set off the shelf which was not made with the Pavelets in mind, then retro-fit them after recieving an order. Also, this means if I have a customer who purchases from us, but fails to follow directions on my sizing page, (AND has already fought in the product like we had a customer contact us this morning), then he can send the product back to be retro-fitted with the pavelets, making his Knight Marshal happy. Also, this means anyone who has ever purchased from us could send a product in to be retro-fitted.
Here is a link again showing the new option which will be shortly added to all my knee and leg products. Thanks Irish for the history lesson on Master Pavel so I could give him credit.
