Hardwood "scraps" Needed for Dagger Hilt
Hardwood "scraps" Needed for Dagger Hilt
I am planning to make a dagger hilt to match the one in an illumination. I am looking for a small scrap of hardwood that is appropriate for Medieval Europe, and is a light color (yellowish tan if possible).
Anybody got anything laying around? I need enough to make 2 "scales" of approx. 1/2" thick by 3" wide x 5" tall. I'm not really using scale construction, but a sandwich of two scales to simulate a whittle tang enclosure.
Suggested woods have been: cherry, pear, apple, Euro walnut, boxwood, straight-grained maple
Any reasonable price will be entertained.
Thanks,
Tim

If you can turn bowls you can turn chalices, right?

Dude.. if you have bowl blanks that are going a-wanting, let me know! If you just want them gone, I'll pay shipping. What woods?

Goblet
Greetings Maeryk,
I comissioned a chalice not long ago from a fellow that does nice work, but they selected crappy wood that they needed to plaster with filler. It worked out usable, but not pretty.
Look at this feller and tell me if you can turn something like this....

Size
Size, Size,
It is all about size. Isnt it.....
It is not important how large your goblet is, but how much you drink with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, I have no clue as to the dimensions of the original. My suggestion would be enough so that the bowl can hold a standard bottle of beer. or about 1/3 to 1/2 bottle of Homebrew mead..... (wine size)

Glass
Yes,
But since this looks wider, I am assuming the HEIGHT of a standard bottle of spring water, (about 8 1/2 tall, including the stem, and about 5 wide t the mouth of the bowl)
That guy is no longer making these.
