That is a nice looking helm, but why the hinged cheek plates with a full bargrill?

Because a bargrill is an SCA requirment, and the period piece would have had hinged cheek plates.

Hey Sacratomato'an... I just moved over to Salida (Modesto) and am looking for a group here local. I have been playing phone tag with his Royal Highness Gunther to no result. If you do know of any local fighter practice I would be grateful to know of it.

I am a new fighter and just about have my kit done. My kit is that of ancient Greece. No, not due to the movie..I have been working on this for over a year :D

Not that there is anything wrong with being a fanboi too. heh

not only do you have to have creative metal working skills but you have to be able to manage the business office side
otherwise you will not make it.
