WARNING armorer problem

Post by Karl Helweg »

Since AA dumped the last 8 months:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0155248453

Not only has this Mark Priest refused to respond to any of my many e-mails or ebay's but is trying to block paypal's attempts to collect payment.

Several good folks here have communicated with him on my behalf and he seems to just be stalling to avoid any promised delivery or refund. My thanks to you folks regardless.

I suppose we should ad Boldo's Armory to this list. Too bad the thread was lost, It was quite a read. Laughing, Crying, Gnashing of teeth... it was all there.

I paid for a custom helm and when it arrived it was miles too big... I mean miles. The inner diameter was 30"... It got sent back and forth a few times to get fixed until I finally told the armorer forget it, I had enough. He was good enough to refund me my money but it certainly took a while. While his business practices seemed mostly fair (Hey I got the money back minus the shipping), I have to complain about the quality of the workmanship.

Oerthans

What sort of helm was it?

It seems, from asking around, that at least half of all Oerthan fighters are owed armor, rattan, guarb, or refunds for what we have paid for. It seems that less than honest dealers figure that they can avoid folks this far away. Sad.

A thought.

Has the idea of making a thread about "bad" armorers and making it sticky so that everyone can post their problems and concerns there ever been brought up? I think it might be a good thing to have available.

I am also sorry to hear that you are still having problems with your purchase Karl. It seems to be that the folks back in that area are stand up people and that someone in his area would be able to help you out. Knight, King, Prince, Duke, someone should have some pull and be able to make things a bit rough on him for not working with you. I have this amusing picture in my head of this dude being at a fighter practice just getting lit up and every time he does the person doing the hitting asks him what the status is on your order. Or he is simply alienated by others until he does the right thing. But perhaps I live in a "simple" world.

Please keep us posted on how things are going with Paypal etc. and if this less than stand up person makes things right with you. It seems he has another negative auction as well and you figure Ebay and Paypal would start catching on to that. Sorry you are having go through this.

Take care,

Brogan.

That bites Karl. I think I would get the word out to only deal with reputable armorers. And if the deal is to good to be true, well it probably is.

I saw the ebay account of who you dealt with. Was his rep that bad, when you dealt with him, or did it go in the clink after?

For you guys, honestly, if its not Icefalcon, StoneKeep, James River Armory or places like that, I wouldnt deal with them. And unless the ebay person has 95% or better, would not even come close to dealing with them.

It was a Roman Gallic style helm... There is a picture of it on his website but I honestly wouldn't get it.

What about this... instead of a sticky thread we have a forum specifically for Armorer Reviews.

I like that idea, would make it easier to use the "search" function when looking up armorers.

I remember that thing - it looked like a 200 year old diving helmet.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that JT has stated before that there would be no armorer review board. I believe the reason had something to do with the archive not officially endorsing or slamming any armorer. As I said I may be wrong, but that is what I recall. Besides we already have a board for reviewing armorers, it's called Classifieds/Want Ads

Even after tracking down a phone number(s) it is "no longer receiving messages."

I don't suppose that anyone sees Mark Preist on any regular basis?
