Hello All
I am looking to get my hands on a set of padded cuisses for SCA heavy fighting. I have large legs in the 29-31 inch around thigh range. Id perfer black or natural color, but I am open to what is available. I am going ot add suop can knees to these. Id like to get them for estrella, but not a make or break.
Thaks for your time.
Tuomas.

I think there is such a market for these depending on what the crafter was able to make... inexpensive 'tube' ones that the wearer could put cut 'garden hose' into .. ones made so end user could stuff and hand whip stitch shut and wear (via grommet lacing so sizing could vary) ... and ones completed in with cotton or horse/tow/linen/wool stuffing ...
Enough of the 14th C. crowd out there I think it would feasible ...
Hell, I'd buy a pair or two for myself and at least a spare for loaner or two ... easier to fit a flexible cuise that can be laced to fit than a set of steel ... that and they don't chew up outgear if used as 'concealed' armour for earlier period types.

Ya know, I have been thinking of adding these to my line up. I have patterns for these in a few different sizes, and my hubby got me a sewing machine for Christmas.
It will be a good while before I can get these going (maybe a few months), so I know this doesn't help you out right now though. Maybe there's enough of a market to put this on the list of new items I want to try.

Allrighty, I will add these to my list of prototypes to make. I need to learn to use a sewing machine, as I've never used one before. Handstitiching may be an option, but it will be pricey.
I'm thinking canvas with raw cotton batting (which, of course, came from a store that's now out of business), and machine sewn. That could be the "economy" version. I could maybe look into linen for an "upgrade", along with the aforementioned hand sewing.
Like I said though, it will be a good while before I can get to these.
Thanks,
Cat

yup yup .. add me to the list of ones to give a heads up to when they are coming out into production or if you have a few proto sets you want to part with for 'field testing'. I like the idea of the economy and the linen versions.

I just emailed Therion on this. I would expect a reply before too long. If he emails me direct I'll pass it on. Or since I gave him the link to this thread he may do so here.

Cat,
If you make them, I want one or two pairs. I am ready to order them from you when you are ready to make them

Tuomas, if you need something by Estrella and can cover it, you can do what I did. I got a pair of basketball shorts from Walmart. Sewed lines up them, cut the lining, and slid a piece of hose in. They'll get you by until you have something that can show.

Sounds good guys. I wish I could help you all out now, but I'm a bit busy for a while. I will do my best to get to them as quickly as possible though.
