If some of you know me from my name before the archive crash..Edward Turcotte..I have had a devil of a time getting a helmet that would fit me. So I turned to Hal. It came in the mail today..and OMG!!!! Perfection is a understatement. To make sure that Hal could get a perfect fit with a minimum of clearence he had me get some wire and tighten it around my head where my hat band would fit on my brow. I then traced the inside of the band on a piece of paper ...and mailed it off to him. He cut that out and used it as his guide for the band...all armorer should use this!!! He also emailed me directions for the rest of the measurements he would need and gave me directions on how to make a set of cardboard calipers...another great idea! The Helmet is based on the St. Justina. I live in Gleann Abhann and we both agreed that slats would be a good option..I feel that it would also have been a natural progression in helmet design. I am a crusader in Outremer and it would have filled in the much needed gap of a kettle and full faced helm...protection and airflow. Communication was unbelievable...in the course of the construction I feel like a friendship developed with him and his wife. Production time...LOL..again...he did this in a few weekends...I think a total of 5 or so. His Guarentee...if I was not happy with it for fit or any reason..he would return my check on return of the helmet. Check came today..he has not cashed it. Only one armorer I have dealt with over the years that treated me this well overall and that is Adam Berry at White Mountain Armory. Thankyou Hal for getting me back on the field and for making me look spiff!!! Gentleman get rid of the sporting rigs when you can....raise the bar for what time period you do...if you don't have the money for a better helmet ..put a few dollars away all year..save up. Oh, I got this helmet very cheap..Hal gave me a quote that was not in line with the hours he spent. I offered to pay him more and he would not take it..so I sent a couple of harder to get DVD's for him and the Mrs. as a bonus...He is a man of his word...so refreshing to see in this day and age. Hal..my glass is raised! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzzah!

Ya know you should NEVER take a proto-type helm, lots of nasty bugs and what-not waiting to jump out ad bite you at inopportune moments. Save yourself the heartache now, send it to me and I will do you and the fine artisan who crafted this the favor of keeping it from the light of day until the design/production bugs get worked out

That is amazing. Now the rest of the kit needs to be of outstanding quality, to do justice to the helm.

... and therein lies the issue with having cool stuff... it all has to be cool, or the not-cool stands out as much as the cool stuff does.
So this is the project Hal was working on with the fluted helm skull... awesome! Definitely dig it.
