WTB: Period coinage

Post by Zubeydah »

I am organizing a Young Gentlemen's Salle the last weekend of May (at Northkeep's Castellan). One of the things we're doing for each of the 15 attendees is giving them a series of gifts that tie to various gentlemanly virtues.

I am seeking to buy 15 period coins (doesn't matter what time period or country or physical size - just as long as it is identifyable as some sort of 'coin of the realm'.), which will go in 15 leather pouches I'll be making, as part of a discussion on Generosity and Charity.

Anyone make coins that could help me with this order? I am trying to stay under $20.00 for the coins and shipping costs if possible, as I am sponsoring the Salle on my own.

Many thanks,

I've got nothing but good things to say about The Compaignye Store. I ordered stuff from them right before Estrella this last year to give to a friend who let me camp with his group as "payment" (in addition to money for the food plan and such). The coins all had excellent detail, and I'd ordered a variety of them, including the leather pouch for the coins.

Overall, the transaction was fairly cheap for the quality I received, service was pretty fast (despite Jehan apologizing for a "delay" for all customers right around that time -- not that I noticed one) and I had zero problems with the transaction. I'm planning on repeating this order a few more times here in the future, and I can't think of anyone I'd rather buy from.

I too would recommend The Compaignye Store.

However, in keeping with the theme, if you PM me your mailing address I will send you 15 of these coins from my own coffers.

Thank you, sir. I'd been looking for that thread, and lost track of it. I appreciate the point in the correct direction.

Eadric, I admit myself flabbergasted at your offer and the generosity behind it. I thank you, sincerely. Please know that your name will be added to the event program as a sponsor. PM to be sent momentarily.

Gratefully,

Zubeydah

Good sir:

I posted, hoping to get a good bargain from one of the artists here, and instead, have received such charity and generosity, as to render me .. well.. nearly speechless.

I can say only a deeply felt - Thank you. Your generosity is very touching, and will be conveyed to the young gentlemen at the Salle.

Well, I'm responding out of a practical standpoint as well. They can't very well exercise any kind of intelligent generosity if their only choices are:

Give nothing.

or

Give all they have.

If each of them has two coins, then they can give some, none, or all...

And nothing's stopping you from ordering another 15 to make it three per young gentleman, either. : ) Their parents will start asking for loans!

Jehan:

When I try to make the purchase on your store site, it does not add any costs for shipping. Could you provide, or direct me to a stateside contact who could provide, shipping for 15 coins to zip code 74135 ?

Many thanks,

Zubeydah

I wish wish wish you had some roman coinage. Perhaps I can persuade you into making some?
