I have a tendency to put a sale price on something made from scrap pieces.

I raise the price on any piece with white leather because not only is it a nightmare to work with, it's more expensive.

I give deals to people who have given me deals.

If a piece is made from particularly nice leather, and I use whatever hand-casted buckles I have laying around, it raises the price.

If a piece uses conventional, modern buckles I drop the price.

Sorry if none of this makes any sense, but there is method to the madness.

You post things like this as "bizarre" and when I read through the list, I go "huh? I would do the EXACT same thing"

I don't think you are "bizarre" as you think you are.

Like Irish, to me, this just makes sense. Perfect sense.

I suppose all three of us might be odd, but even then, odd in the same exact direction?

Keep on doin' what you are... getting good stuff out to good people.

When explained that way, your pricing makes a lot more sense. I have been known to adjust prices for the exact same reasons....sort of like a price spread of $50 - $100 for a pair of greaves depending on how I finish them off.

I have to admidt, I was curious, when a dagger scabbard goes from $80 - $70 on the same sale thread, I get curious.

I love my sword scabbard beyond words. I will recommend your craftsmanship to any who are looking to accent thier gear or add just that right finishing touch. If they wonder about the price, I will tell them to shut up and just order, its worth it!

These are the only two I wouldn't do.

If you use scrap for something the leather is of the same quality as whatever you used the rest of the leather for. And it cost you just as much for that piece of scrap as it did for a piece the same size on the original product so no discount.

Modern buckles cost money too, these guys would get the "regular" price.

That is, unless I am the guy you are giving discounts to, if that is the case then forget what I said above.

And these are only what I would do if I did anything that was worth selling.

Hey you don't have the +50% mark-up for "gotta-have it now but I'm going to wait 2 weeks before I send you the check and can you please re-dye it so the shade of brown EXACTLY matches my non-period fighting sneakers..." anoying customers!

You sell art, functional art, but art none the less (and very pretty art at that). I never question the cost of art. It is how the artist feels on at any given moment. Set your prices however you damn well please and consistancy be damned
