How much interest in custom boots with fast turn around?

I have recently been poking around a bit wanting to finish my kit off with some nice looking Rus boots. I stumbled across a site that will custom make any boot. You send them the measurements and the pics of what you want they give you a boot 3 to 5 weeks later.

The basic operation is two brothers. One is here in the US and is the front man the other guy runs the factory in Bangkok. You can call a toll free number and the stateside guy answers the phone and is very nice to chat with.

He ran me through everything what type of lining, material for the boot, hidden boot straps, color, they have a video on their site on how to measure your foot, and they have a choice of soles for the boots.

They have never heard of the SCA but when I sent him pics of the boot I wanted he laughed and said that would be some of the easiest stuff they have ever done.

He was curios if there was any market in the SCA for nice looking custom made boots, custom as in made to your measurements and what you want, with a 3 to 5 week turn around.

Below are some pics of what they have done. Mostly movie type boots for conventions.

Batman boots

Darth Maul boots

Skywalker boots

As it was explained to me the boots shown above were custom made for Star Wars fans and or Batman fans. Most of their custom jobs are in the 200 to 400 dollar range and their standard fair type cowboy boots run from 100 to 400 depending on material.

He said if we can send them pictures of it they can make it and the turn around time is 3 to 5 weeks.

He did say they would just be able to do the "raw" boots. If you want trims or beads or things of that nature they really cannot do that. They can make it any material or color you want just no decorations.

Let me know what you think. I will keep you guys updated as I go through he process with them.

Also I have to say it would probably be tough to get period materials etc etc. He was confident they could make any style of boot but if you wanted something sewn with like waxed linen or something of that nature I doubt they could do it.

I am hesitant to give out the site address simply because if this turns out to be something bad I don't want to be attached to it. However my intial reaction after talking to Gary on the phone was he was a pretty decent guy carving out a niche for himself and his brother.

Anyways I will keep you guys posted let me know what you think.

"Dude, how could you not tell me I'm wearing panty red boots!!!"
If this works out, I would be in the market for a pair even if my wallet isnt exactly willing.

Yeah they do a lot of ebay stuff. I sent them in my info and I will keep you guys posted as I go through the process. They seem like really decent guys.

I checked them out on Ebay they have 410 feedbacks and only one is negative. A few of them do say took a little longer than advertised as far as shipping goes but were positive feedbacks.

They are a bonded merchant. So here is the website.

Basically I have asked them to do this boot.

With a smooth leather sole like the sole of cowboy boots. Also with boot straps on the inside of the boot, they are not period, so they are invisible and make putting the boot on easier. They are going to line the insides with soft leather and fleece.

I asked for this material.

I asked for them to be this color. I was thinking about going red but I was afraid I would look like a hooker. :) Then all the boys would bring thier milkshakes to my yard.

Then I will attach some light greaves to them after I get them, that is period, and my wife will decorate the greaves to dress the boot up.

Any feedback on my choices is welcome.
