Having purchased two sets of these, one for myself and another for a friend,I can honestly say the Bazubands are the bomb! Light weight, fit was dead on, looked great and easy to fight in. The entire transaction was smooth and professional and I highly recommend Willing Pell as a merchant and all around good guy!

If these are a fit I am up for one set of the bazubands. If you could let me know the measurements and we can go from there.
Many thanks

Alysander, Here's part of my writeup I use for my bay sales with the measurements.
This is a pair of steel Bazubands or forearm and elbow protectors put together for SCA combat. They are sized large, the circumference at the wrist being 11 1/2 inches, total length 14 inches and distance from wrist to inside of elbow about 9 inches, this should accommodate a great many different size arms, just pad to fit. Height of elbow protecting wings is 4 inches and the 3 points of the elbow are protected as required by SCA rules. The bazubands are constructed of 18 gauge steel, have attractive brass plated steel hinges and are fully strapped out with a hand made buckle

Spaulders and bazubands are sold, 3 gorgets still for sale. They are 18 gauge mild ,near mirror polish, three adjustable pin settings on each side, should be able to adjust from 16 to 18 1/2 inch neck with room for your padding.

WP.... Is 18 gauge really heavy enough for the bauzabands in SCA conditions? Just wondering as most elbow cops are 16 g mild minimum. I know there is a fine line between lightness and protection especially the further you get away from the body center.
What is your take on it?

I have made these in 16 gauge and found them to be very heavy. As is, each piece ways 2 1/ pounds in 18, in 16 they were closer to 4 or 5 pounds a piece. Most of the feedback I've had has been positive in the durability of the elbow portion, actually more denting in the forearm part after hard use.. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with dishing and plannishing hardening the metal up, plus the springiness of the wings due to the shape. I have been considering a hybrid of 18 and 16 but need to get enough funds to by a sheet of 16 gauge, local cost is something like 120 dollars now. I have also experimented with armor thick leather pads riveted on to the elbows but they were not well received.

My pair from Mr. Pell were in 16ga mild - they were heavy, but I'm a skinny-wristed 170 pound weakling and I adjusted fine after about 2 months of hard use. I grew stronger, and never had to worry about hurting my arms.
YMMV.

I've had no bites on the gorgets so I'll probably list them on Ebay this afternoon.

I had a pair of the bazubands and they were awesome... fit and finish was spectacular. They did, however, get mangled over time. The forearms, specifically the right one, got dented up badly. I reshaped them several times.
I would definitely order them again in the future... but in 16ga.

Juan,
We talked about the bauzabands in 16 and 18 gauge months ago. Would you be interested in trying a pair if i sent you some 16 gauge for the elbows?
