Pattern-welded knife with nickel silver fittings/wire inlay

Post by Aaron Schnatterly »

My lovely bride Shan-Aan just finished up her latest project... a nice dirk-like knife.

Fiddled with the lighting to "pop" the pattern:

A contrast shot of the spine:

And one of her mark:
Image

13.25" over all length
8.5" blade length
Blade is hand-ground from a billet of pattern-weld made by Rick Barrett.
Fittings are nickel silver with a Macassar Ebony spacer, grip is African Blackwood with a 2-strand 22g nickel silver twisted wire inlay.
Shan-Aan has added filework to the spine of the blade - a nice accenting touch.
Very sharp... and I don't mean just the edge, which will shave hair off my arm.

Fortunately, the her knife-making skills far exceed my photography skills...

This piece is available - $600

I have opinions of my own- strong opinions- but I don't always agree with them.

Good Lord! That's beautiful!
Living up to a name that means "Heroic Warrior" can lead to injury . . . especially for the other guy!

Thanks, Zubeydah!

Pattern weld is an interesting media to work in. I did some playing around with a couple of small scraps... Really, really neat stuff.
