Still in need?

Post by avikinggoddess »

Good Day!

I just caught wind of the discussion on the Outlands email list. Any ideas on what you all still need, or what would be most needed?

I have a few ideas, with no clue as to how to implement them....yet.

We have a largesse guild, which I started a few years ago. This is something I envisioned the guild being a part of. Since I moved a year ago, the new guild principal is an army brat, since birth, who brought her husband home frome the middle east, part one. I imagine we can get a care package to you all in the next few weeks.

The problem is, we don't have an armor making people in the guild. We do, however, have excellent seamstresses. And, we have a talent for begging, borrowing, and stealing talent when we need it.

My second question is, any desire for rapier or fencing stuff? And, how about archery? I guess I am asking if there is any interest in anything other than hard suit?

Stay safe, and thank you for your job well done.

As Ever Yours,
Mariah

What else do you need? Do you need tools? Leather punch? Small anvils? Rivets? I think this is a worthy cause.

I finished a couple of plastic barrel bodies last night. Now, I've got to figure out how to get them there.

I looked through what I've got in stock, and I think I can part with a pair of SS elbow cops and a couple of 16 ga cup-hilts for you guys (I make these in 14 ga now, but the 16 should hold up well for a while at least). Should be able to get them into a flat-rate box.

Good gentles,

I am stunned. Ab-so-lut-ly stunned. The response has been tremendous at the least. I can't even begin to express the gratitude I feel. I love and have loved the SCA for many years. But this is, in a word, humbling.
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I put the original message up. (Old moldy carpet COP, and the mismatching knee cops, ect.) But this is growing quickly.

I thank you all for your generosity. I'll send pics as soon as I can.

I am currently looking for a space where I can permanantly store this stuff in hopes of passing the keys off to the next SCA'er that gets sent here. At the least I'll have the stuff situated where I can just hand the 800 :) duffle bags off when I leave so my InterKindom fighter practice can continue on.

If anyone knows people deployed downrange on "Victory Base" please forward my Email: Aaron.r.johnston1@us.army.mil and tell them to please email me.

Nahrun: If you could whip up a few regular old Fighting tabards that would be cool and cheap. Any colors are fine. :)
I'm just trying to get one thing started at a time. So fencing and arching are out right now.

Clang: Anything is fine. Whatever you can easily part with. I know you armour professionally and right now that's not the easiest profession. So I wouldn't want to take food from your table.

Again, I am humbled by your responses. I feel truly blessed to be fortunate enough to belong to the SCA.

VIVAT!

Thanks Atherbirdge and a few other folks for sending stuff. We have enough goodies to almost start a practice.

Now we need a few sticks to swing around and I'm still woring on shields. Who's got a decent price on rattan that's willing to mail the stuff APO?

And baskethilts too....I forgot about them...I have one on the way...But if anyone has one lying around collecting rust.... (Why oh why did I give my first one away?)

Sticks

Post by Harp »

So I just got a shipment of 2 8 foot sticks of 1 1/2 inch rattan with the skin on. I can cut them down into 4 4 foot sections or ship them as is.

I have a former college roomate in the sandbox with you guys and have already lost a friend to the war. Keep fighting the good fight. Be safe. I am glad to have the opportunity to help out.

Sorry....Army post office.....(APO)...kind of the local post office. It uses the zipcode to localize where the soldier is at. 1 of the sticks is fine. I don't want to suck your supply dry. And if you could cut it into swordish lengths and bundle it it will be cheaper to ship.

How much do you want for it?

(BTW Where are you at in GA? I'm originally from Grey Niche in Memphis. My knight is a Gleann Abhanant, Sir Leto Darkhorse.)

The price is a beer and a good conversation. And perhaps a toast to friends who have crossed the veil.

Don't worry about my rattan supply. Plenty more where that came from.

I play out of Shreveport.

Leto and I have hung out several times. Your knight is one hell of a brewer. Mine is one hell of a drinker. :)

Yes, the man can brew. He's not bad a putting the stuff away either. :)

I know Shreveport well. I'm originally from Monroe. I've know most of the Loch Bais folks like their my own kin folks. Oh and tell sarah "Doc says Hi."

Large POST with pics

Post by Proxus »

Well,

Here is what Caid has come up with. We had a few folks who begged me to wait until after crown as they would have more gear by then, so I waited and now have quite the haul to be shipped your way.

Here are the pics I will let them do the talking. I am going by FED-EX tomorrow during lunch and will ship it out then.

I hope your fighter practice becomes a permanent base recreation feature soon.

More pics to follow these...

EDIT: I would like to thank all of you from Caid who took the time to drive multiple hours, clean out your closets and bring this unused gear with you to events this summer. I know it will be used with much enthusiasm and your efforts are GREATLY appreciated of that I am positive. Thank you for making this donation a reality.

And that's actually a pretty good Japanese armour, there. It's keeper-material. :)

 It is brand new. One of the fighters got it as a prize in a raffle the day he gave it to me. Was seriously stunned. It is nice. I am not a japanese persona and I am still drooling all the way to the mailbox.

Aaron,

Everything shipped out last Tuesday August 26th. Please keep me updated on the status when you get it. There should be 6 boxes all together, after it was packed.
